I have been with him for over four years, and we have a small child under three. I am in my late 30s. My partner and I have not made love for over two years. We never touch, kiss or hug, apart from the occasional kiss on the cheek when he is on his way out the door to work.
I am so lonely, and yet I never feel alone because I have the most beautiful child to love and care for.
I want so desperately to be loved, and yet I can't bring myself to leave and take my son away from him. They love each other so much.
Also, I just don't know how I would live on my own and be the kind of Mum I want to be. I would have to put my son in care so that I could work to provide for him. But I want to be WITH him, to love and encourage him as he grows.
I have been able to work from home for the past three years, in a business with my partner. It has been great to work from home and be with my child, however it has been disastrous for my relationship with my partner, as I find him impossible to work alongside. If our relationship ends the business will end with it, and therefore I will lose what income I have.
I feel trapped. I want to be happy, I want my son to be happy, and I want my partner to find happiness.
Do you have any advice for me?

He says he is still very attracted to me, but from my point of view he doesn't seem to want to show me affection, or take my wants, needs, desires seriously and therefore I feel no urge to be with him. I am so shut down emotionally that I am unsure whether I love him or not.

Have you talked to him about this? Does he know how he's making you feel? It sounds like you need to have a serious conversation. See what he says and base your decision on that. You shouldn't stay if he is unresponsive. It won't be a positive environment for your little guy. You'll get back on your feet again! Good luck. |

why has your partner stopped making love to you, is he gay or what?
two years is a long time, that's not normal. if he don't explain to you his reasoning for this, then i would sure ask and tell him how you feel. if nothing else maybe the two of you could work something out where you could live in two house holds and still work together on raising your son. |

Have you tried sitting down and talking to him about this? Ask him, if he wants to continue in the relationship like this, and if he's happy the way things are. Perhaps you guys can talk to each other about your wants and needs, and maybe work it out so that you don't have to leave. |

Can you go back to school while still working and living where you are? Even online. Because then you might be prepared for a new career and by then your child will be ready for school so you'd not miss any time with him or her. That might be the time to make a clean break. And who knows, maybe if you separate then, when you're confident-- your partner may realize what he's lost! |
