are you married to a US citizen? if yes after 3 years you are eligible to apply for GC. However you get a temporary GC for 2 years and upon a second interview and providing the proof of bona fide marriage you will get a permenant GC.
If you are married to a US citizen and in an abusive relationship then you need to consult with a lawyer. They are some exception rules to apply in that senario |

Yeah you can get a divorce. A "green card" is only a right to work in the US for a certain time frame. You are NOT an American Citizen if all you have is a green card. |
