I am not sure if Im being unreasonable or not.. does he not want to be apart of my life?

Honestly I am not sure if Im being unreasonable or not... my boyfriend isn't as social as I am and my friends and family often have dinners and parties and while I completely understand that he doesn't have to attend everything it seems to me he never wants to go to anything. And when he does come along no matter how much everyone else is having fun for some reason hes the only one frowning... this up coming saturday is my cousin's 40th birthday and he doesnt want to go and its not an age thing or a feeling of not having fun since hes 32 and Im 27. I explained to him that this is a big family function and thats kind of an obligation (like to my family this would be like not coming to thanksgiving type of thing) but apparently he disagrees. And it just so happens also on Saturday my very good friend is having a dinner in honor of her mother who has been dead for 10 years and this is very important to her so its important to me but again he doesnt want to go. I didn't say anything about this event since this isnt my family what I dont get is he knows her and her entire family... we just went out to dinner last week for her cousins birthday

Now I like i said, I know he doesnt have to go to everythig but why cant he compromise and go to somethings without us having a huge fight about it. I honestly take this as a hint that he truly doesn't want to be apart of my life. Like Im not talking about girls night out but most of my friends are married or have been with their partners just as long and even longer than we have been together and I hate having to be the only person at a table full of couples without my boyfriend and its not a competition thing I just truly dont understand... and I do not know what to do. I don't see how I can be with someone who doesn't want to be apart of my life.

It is a relationship issue. I have been married for quite some time. Yes there are those things that I REALLY don't want to go to but as a man who cares about my wife I will endure.

But I am of the sort that I will find some fun, comport myself well and make her proud. You have a disconnect and any man who cares for another knows this.

Stop using "partner". That is so bland and implies a lack of commitment.

If having a partner that will attend family events is important to you and you can see that he is not that guy then I think it is time to ask yourself if he is the kind of man that you want.

If you can be ok with attending alone and not hold any bitterness and resentment toward him then ok...but if you want him there and he isn't and this will continue to be a sore spot for you then maybe it is time to find someone who will think those things are important too.
