There are some local places that offer cooking classes. Some can be for exotic meals and others can be for "basics". We attend them together, that way we learn together and play together in the kitchen. |

Make note of what he complements you on. Then when you cook make that again.
Can you ask his mother for recipes of things he liked as a boy?
Think about what types of food he likes and then get a cookbook or watch a cabel TV show about that type of cooking. |

How cute is that. No worries, everyone should get better at anything with practice. Get some cookbooks and watch the food network. Try to take notes on him in terms of the types of flavors he does like and ask him for feedback each time you cook, that way you will know how to cook for HIM which, in this case, seems more important than just knowing how to cook. |

heh, well, you two should go out once in a while to restaraunts, i sometimes get my inspiration from eating others' food.
You can also understand how much of what to put in things and in what foods to put it in if you try this way. I should advise you not to get a recipe book. Watch food Network or something... Watch other ppl create something, that way you can draw inspiration for that is the key ingredient to making a successful meal..... |

I love that you want to do great things for him, I hope he works as hard on keeping you happy. Spending time together in the kitchen is a very enjoyable experience and you will get better with time. You might even check with community college for some cooking classes, even to take together if possible. Cook for him in nothing but an apron if you really want to get cooking. |

I know u wont like to hear this but u shouldn't be living with your boyfriend if ur not married. But since you are, find out about him and what he likes and then when he's not home, practice cooking the things he likes and surprise him! |

Don't think to big. Look at what you can cook and try to vary it. My most fav meal is mince and taties (potatoes) is no that hard (brown the mince cook with carrots and neps for 3/4 of an hour. add corn flour and then add the COOKED taties so they can soak the flavour. Peas on the side is optional) to cook but is a great meal on those long winter nights.
How about omelet and something on the side. You can put just about anything in an omelet. (love bacon and cheese)
Remember. Think small and think what you can already cook and see if you can combine them in some way.
Wel thats it I'm hungry again. of to make a cheese toastie |

Take a culinary arts class, or just try recipes that you find online or in magazines. Whatever looks good, give it a try. You can add your own personal spin on it and call it your own recipe if you want. He'll never know unless you tell him. |

Practice and experiment with your favorite dishes.
I highly recommend the Food Network. Rachael Ray, Sandra Lee and Paula Deen all have great recipes. If you don't have time to sit in front of the tube, go to their website and check out the recipes. For me, Rachael really rocks. Her recipes are quick and watching her I've learned that cooking really is simple and it's all about having fun. Good luck! |

practive, try experimenting with different recipes...go online and find a good recipe site, next time youre in the grocery store buy fresh vs canned, always remember the trinity..it'll make any meal divine..onions, garlic, and celery(or bell peppers)...and just for presentations sake, whether you know what youre doing or not, keep a super clean area when youre cooking. clutter= confusion in the eyes of people. Good luck and your boyfriend is lucky to have a woman who is willing to please like you are...*take notes ladies* |

go to allrecipes.com, they have a large archive of great recipes and cooking tips. They're rated too, so you know which ones have been pre-approved by the allrecipes community. Follow directions when you first start cooking, don't deviate too much from the recipes. Hone your skills first, when you get a little bit better you can put your own personal touch on things. |

You sound like me an my fiancée. I'm the cook. It's really just a matter of time. My mom couldn't cook to save her life when she married my dad. Now, she's easily the best cook I have met in person. You just need to pick up a "cooking for idiots" type book so you can learn basic principles of cooking as a foundation. You also must have patience, and must be willing to follow directions. Cooking is like chemistry. Shortcuts will ruin the whole thing. This is something my fiancée does not yet really appreciate. But if you follow instructions exactly, you will get consistently good results. Start off small, and work your way up to a complexe, dazzling dish that takes 2 days to prepare. |

Food is for most guys, a way to our heart.
The best way to approach cooking is to keep it simple, use fresh ingredients and mind the cooking time.
If your town offers some cooking classes, check and see if any sound interesting and go.
Lastly, watch some food-based movies: "Like Water For Chocolate", " Eat Drink Man Woman", "Chocolat" or "Babette's Feast".
You'll get the connection between heart and stomach and it just might inspire you to release your inner chef. |

Try keeping it as simple as possible at first. Make simple things, like mashed potatoes, hamburgers, string beans. Once you get into the habit of cooking you will be more comfortable in the kitchen. Be easy on yourself. Some books are out there with simple recipes etc. Like I said keep it simple at first. |

This is what i think you should girl. You should say baby come and help me in the kitchen and lets cook your favorite. If he say yes which he will then you should start by taking out your ingredients and tell him to help you to make it just the way he likes it. and for next time you just get a cooking book or go on yahoo.com and search for easy resturants recipes you can make at home. |

Find a very basic recipe book. Something like Betty Crockers Red Cookbook. The recipes are very simple, and everything is explained in great detail. Read recipes online, to get a feeling of how tastes and ingredients work together. Allrecipes.com is good for basic, fast recipes.

The trick to becoming a good cook is to keep trying and trying until you figure out what works and what doesn't. Only practise and experience will help your cooking improve. |

Cooking is just like anything else, if you want to get better you have to practice. It is great that you are trying, you will get better if you keep at it. Try easy recipes to start off with and follow them to a T. As your skills get better, try more difficult dishes. If he is a great cook, then spend time with him in the kitchen. That is a great way to be together and you will pick up some good skills. Have fun with it! |
