I enjoy being single, why do people think its wrong to stay single?

I am almost 21 and never been in a relationship and dont plan on ever being in one. Im a guy in my second year of college and just enjoy being alone. I guess I am a little selfish but since I dont want a relationship, I have the right to be selfish. I just enjoy doing what I want whenever I want and dont have to worry about anyone but myself. I just love the freedom that comes with being single. I can just drop everything and do whatever I want on a moments notice or just do nothing. I like to do a lot of things alone too no harness climbing, jet ski, atv, hunting, fishing, boxing( sometimes box with others, but train alone), cliff diving, longboarding, etc. I like that I dont have to tolerate anyone else and dont have the drama of a relationship. Every freedom that being single entails is why I enjoy it. I just want to know why people think its wrong to be single??? Some say its ok for now, but what if I had this exact question and instead of 21 I was 45??? Some would completly change their answer. I think people just buy into all the media that says you have to get married and have kids to be happy.

I've been married for 22 years, and I don't think you being single is wrong at all. I wonder who these "people" are of whom you speak who think it's wrong. Has anyone actually said to you that it's wrong? Maybe you're only assuming that people believe that when they really don't.

you don't know what it's like to look deep into a person's eyes and know with every cell in your heart that you're truly loved and life can never be the same, and you can never be complete without that person.

its not wrong being single but never been wrong being in a good relationship as well. the universe won't stop if you don't get married and give the universe new generation but thats how it goes...new generation means kids, kids means marriage, marriage means relationship.. now its ok you will have your chance with a good one but when you are 45 you will have less chance to find a good one.
this is what I think at least.. anyone agrees?

live your life to make you happy, and it is better to know how you are than try to make yourself be someone you are not just to please someone else. some people just don't like hanging out with friends all the time or their girlfriend or boyfriend(it gets to be like a second or first job to be in relationships and they do take a lot of time and energy, you just have to love someone so it is fun to be around them and not a negative thing.

Well, married men are jealous. They see you happy while their life is, basically, over. The want you to be as miserable as they are.

From a christians P.O.V i believe its perfectly fine to be single, nor is it selfish.. i hop you dont mind me quoting the bible, but it basically says that, some ppl are called to be married, others to remain single, obviously they are both goin to miss out on certain things but oh well.

thats not wrong, but be open to new things... your young n have so much ahead of you.... you dont need a relationship its all up2 u..its ur life....just be careful not 2 be stubborn in future coz things may chane for you or they may not....be open too new things but follow your heart.. goodluck:)

I don't know. Some people associate being single with being alone though. But if you don't want to be in a relationship, then don't. Just do what you want to do and ignore them.

That's what my brother and his best friend said. My brother is 24 and is in his first relationship. His best friend is around his age and is engaged.
You could change your mind. Nothing wrong with not being in a relationship.

There is absoloutly nothing wrong with being single. People just love the idea of love because that's what we were created for. I can't remember where, but it's even Biblical for some people to be alone...says something along the lines of "it is better for man to be alone"...talking about how you have more time for doing God's work then. Maybe your job is to help others have fun in a good way and being alone, you then have the time to do it :) Don't feel bad about it, or let others make you feel bad about it. Good luck!

I'm in my mid 20's, I'm single, and I've never been married. I will only get into a serious relationship if I intend to marry someone. Otherwise I am happy being friends with people. I will not get into a relationship just because people say I should. Many people are very afraid to be alone and they think everyone else has the same feelings.

I think it's great that you are content being single and there is nothing wrong with your choice. I don't think it's selfish that you are single and enjoy spending time by yourself. Many people are selfish, married, and miserable. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache by being honest about your feelings. If you meet the right person someday and get married that's great. If you never get married that's okay too.

Hey to each their own. Ignore what other people say. No one needs to be in a romantic relationship, people just want to be. Relationships are not for everyone anyways. Enjoy your freedom, its great to do whatever you want to, thats one reason Im glad Im single No stress, no fighting, and I dont have to share anything. Maintaing relationships are hard work anyways.
