You don't say why you've decided to have an affair but I would advise against it. For whatever reason, don't lower yourself to your husband's level - if only because it diminishes your case in divorce court.

Dear one, you're MUCH better off divorcing your current husband before embarking on this new lifestyle.

Then, after you've taken him for all he's worth - and kept your reputation in the meantime - you can do what you want, with whom you want - without fear of reprisal.

I'm assuming by using the word affair you're married. Make sure you think this through. I'd say to be careful, know that this is what you want. You do know if he finds out you won't have to use the word affair, because chances are you won't be married then. Or, you may just feel so guilty you'll tell. Or someone may see you. I hope you can deal with all of the possible consequences, don't take this lightly. And if you have children, think about them.

I think you have to be as discreet as possible.I never had an affair when I was married and was in a long term marriage until the early 90's.As I have matured I can see the need for that type of relationship but if it is not agreed to in the marriage than it should be as discreet as possible.Society still frowns on infidelity and some view it as having religious and moral overtones.However in a secular society there may be a legitimate need for an affair that may be beneficial to ones health..I am the wrong one to ask the mechanics of this process but I think I would try and use the Internet or a close friend.John

i tried to do that once but couldnt go through with it. I met the guy a few times for coffee and we talked on the phone but i just couldnt do it anymore. It was too hard! I also didnt like the fact that i had to work around his schedule b/c he had a wife and kids. I didnt come first but third! I realized that i would rather be alone or stay with the man im with. It wasnt easy trying to have an affair. Im glad i didnt go through with it b/c i know now it would of been emotionally worse for me. Plus, i think the guilt would of gotten to me or i would of slipped up b/c im a horrible liar! Plus i started to feel guilty about the guys wife and kids. I thought "how would i feel if my husband was doing that to me?". I just kept thinking about his wife and kids while sipping cofee..that he probably should be spending time with her not me. I have no anwers for you except do not get emotionally attached b/c he will never leave his family for you unless his wife throws him out if she finds out and then your relatoinship wont even be based on trust and honesty. Im also not truly against it b/c i know what its like to feel lonely and long for some attention. Ive been there too and ive been in a relationship where my significant other was cheating on me and i thought doing it myself would make me feel better but i kept thinking of that other person and couldnt do it. If you decide to have the affair, just know that one day your ex will find out and you may jeoperdize everything you have including your family and friends. People alwasy find out in the long run. I think its easy if someone travels alot and goes to another city but if you plan on having an affair locally, watch out!

You said that you have decided to have an affair and everyone assumed that you meant an illicit affair. An affair is a romantic involvement and if that's all you meant then that's a good thing and I seriously doubt you need instruction on how to do it. Have fun.
If you did mean an illicit affair (I was giving you the benefit of the doubt that you were not) then you must analyze why. Are you asking just for the purpose of finding someone to have an illicit affair with or have you already fell for someone and want to have an affair with him or her? If you want an affair just for the purpose of having one I suggest you see a professional therapist and find out why you desire to do this.
If you have fallen for someone who is already in a relationship with someone else you must be very careful. Most affairs are based on lust not love and most end up with very painful results for everyone involved. Some of the pain and anguish are irreparable.
If you decide to have the illicit affair and I hope you don't, don't tell anyone, ever.
