I live in Las Vegas and I want to leave with my daughter and go out of state. I am tired of being treated like a piece of trash. I just signed the declaration of paternity the other day which I regret, but I want to know what the father can do if i decide to leave and not tell him where I am.

Depends on your custody rights agreement. If he is abusive, I would recommend that you get an attorney and get full custody of your child. He may get visitation rights and you may be restricted as to taking your child out of state for more than a specified period of time. I know it is expensive and time consuming but if he is truly abusive, it's worth it to protect your child and your rights as her mother. If you can, gather any evidence of abuse before seeing your attorney. This will weigh heavily in your favor. Hearsay is not enough in the legal system. I would encourage you at the minimum to break of your relationship with this man. Truly consider the effects of breaking off your child's relationship with her father. If he is stable and loving to her, it would be a mistake to take her from that regardless of your feelings about him. All the best. |

You don't want to get arrested for parental kidnapping and then lose your kids. You need to move out. If he wants to see his kid, he will go to court to do so. Talk to a lawyer to find out what your rights are. |

If he is abusive you can get a restraining order against him for you and the baby. If you fear for your lives |

You need to find out the laws in your state/city. But if you 2 aren't married and no custody order in is place...you can leave the state (at least in VA you can).....but you really need to see what the laws are in Nevada. |

Get a restraining order, I had to get one put on my ex, this protected me and my children. Usually stated in this document is that you and you child in protected from him and that you have sole control over what you do with your child. I was able to go from Mass to Ohio cause of getting this. The best thing is to get away to a save place and find a free attorney advise. Go to your welfare office in your county or district and ask there. Get a legal bidding paper that gives you control, not him! |
