Im going to propose to my girlfriend within the next month and a half or so. I have been asking her seemingly pointless questions such as "what color pearl is your favorite?" and "what is your favorite type of metal for a ring? yellow gold? white gold? silver? platinum?" I know she loves pearls. I bought her a beautiful peach colored strand for her birthday and she almost burst into tears infront of both our families because she loved them so much.
I know she doesnt want a diamond because of sneaky questioning.
So far, I know she wants a white or peach colored pearl on yellow gold.

We have talked briefly of engagement and she mentioned that she didnt want a diamond because she thought they were a little too common nowadays. She explicitly told me that she wanted a pearl engagement ring. "If you get me an engagement ring I would LOVE a pearl ring. Im not much of a big fan for diamonds....." Almost verbatim.

I disagree with the 2 girls that said diamonds =engagement because, personally, i think they are sooo overrated.
I do, however, think only the pearls are not enough for such an especial ring. If she loves pearls, get a ring with them plus a a not-so-common gemstone ,kind of like this:

I like those kind of rings better because they look so different, you can make an awesome engagement ring with any gemstone there is...
But in this cases there is no right/wrong, do whatever you think will make your girl happy.If she prefers pearls and wants a pearls only ring, your choice is very elegant.You could also try something like this

Pearls are not engagement rings. Diamonds are!!! She may prefer pearls for necklaces or rings, but for her engagement ring, she will want a diamond, I am almost positive! You had better check first. |
