I should leave my husband but don't know what to do?

Hi- I have posted a question just a minute ago, somewhat similar. He's been acting really weird with me, and he's been hurting me emotionally, not physically. If he ever laid a hand on me I would pack and be gone.

I am in the same boat, I cannot afford to leave him because he makes the house payment ever month, I work part time. I pay for some bills inside the house, he pays for his car and the house. I pay for food, fun stuff out, etc.

I also do not have anyone around my area that I could crash with for a few days to see if it could cool down back at home. My advice for you, and I think will be turning to it pretty soon would be to turn to your family. I know and feel the same way that I do not want them to know about my problems, etc but they are there to help, and hopefully they can help you. Good Luck- it has to get better.

I say leave, it may seem impossible at first but you'll survive. Ask someone you work with if you could crash with them for a few weeks until you can get a place of your own. Take on a 2nd job if you have to, you'd be there less often. You could do it, don't look for excuses not to.

i don;t know girl... but get out. move 2 hrs away with your parents, go to a house for abused women...just do something.

If you need to go, then go. 2 hours away is no that long of a drive and start looking fo another job. Get two if you have to. You are a rational adult obviously. Combine that rationality with some resourcefulness. You are only as trapped as you beleive you are. If you beleive you are in danger then you need to willing to make sacrifices in order to protect your safety. Call your family. If all else fails look at going into the military, it is a good way to get independent of him and you wil have three meals a day, a roof over your head, a free gym to workout a paycheck and a career.

Isn't that why they have settlements and alimony and all that? Anyway, bills is just an excuse for complacency. If things were really bad you would leave.

I really wouldn't worry about how you are going to pay your bills. Just get the hell out of there. He's threaten to beat you. That's not cool trust me. You need to take care of yourself and yourself only. There's always income based apartments and you can apply for assistance through your state to help you until you are able to make it on your own. I wouldn't go back to your parents house b/c he can find you there. He might start stalking you. When you file for divorce, tell them you want alimony. You deserve it and make sure you tell them that he has been threaten you about beating you.

On A Journey

Is it absolutely necessary to keep your car? If not, consider getting rid of it in order to make it more viable financially to leave. Is keeping your car worth having to stick around and be verbally (and quite possibly physically) abused? See if there is a free legal clinic in your area, or at least if you can get a free consultation with a lawyer. She or he can tell you what your options are and whether or not it would be likely you would receive financial support from him.

Dont ever feel its your fault!!! EVER!!! there is no exuse for abuse. you didnt mention if you have kids...but anyway...GET OUT. do what you have to do to pay bills...I swear to you if you try,,,,,you can do it. If you keep letting him treat you this way, i promise you it will only get worse without him getting help...good luck

You need to sit down and talk honestly with him. How do you think he feels? You just wrecked the car, then bought another one? (Why didn't you have insurance?) Men almost always pretend to be the "hunters" and providers. Are you sure he makes as much money as you think he does? Are you spending it faster than he can make it? He probably would never admit that he's under financial strain. Marriage isn't easy. You need to work through this, or at least try. On the other hand, SPOUSAL ABUSE IS A DEAL BREAKER.
What are YOU adding to this relationship? Sit down Honey, and have a long talk with yourself. Sounds to me that there's a part of you that likes having a sugar daddy. It works both ways you know. Try to remember why you fell in love, then get a grip on the finances. We aren't living a realty show you know. "I do" is for real. Good luck.
