If you really love your significant other, then you'd wait until they're okay with it. At least this person said not yet, meaning that they do want to marry you, but they're just not ready for it right now. Be patient, there are many reasons, from family to work to education (if you're young enough), to a whole bunch of other reasons. |

The way you phrase the question, it sounds like you just want to get married, period, and it's not really significant WHO you get married to. That's a big mistake. |

more negative feelings. Try talking calmly that then ask
there is anything about . Perhaps you could both work on at least one
about the other and try to change thought. |

Well..I would wait but I would also want to know their idea as to HOW LONG.
Have a serious discussion about it..make a plan.
If they are not willing to make a plan and you have been dating a long time...i.e. at least a year or two, I would say it is time to move on......

Maybe they have some goals they want to reach before marriage.
Maybe they realize weddings can be expensive. Along with finding a place to live together. And many other things.
Talk to him. If it bothers you so much ask him why he wants to wait?

If you are living together then why would he want to get married ?
If you are not living together but just dating then if you are ready to marry and he isn't then the balance is not level and you should think about what you want for your future. |

Age is a big factor. Some people want the means to be able to have a home, and not tons of bills hanging over them when they go into marriage. Some don't want all of it right away because it brings so much disconnent and they like the relationship to stay simple for awhile.
If it has been years that you have been with the person and they still are putting it off, I would give them a time frame and if they still won't committ to it, I would move on. |
