This was a long standing arguement with me and my husband of eighteen years. Now me and a friend are having the same arguement. I say if they can cheat and get away with it they will especially the longer they have been married cause they have more to lose. I am not talking about habitual cheaters. My husband always said ( and now my friend ) if he was miserable enough to cheat he would end the relaionship. I am just interested to see what people think or have experienced so I can prove my point to my friend.

It depends on the misery I would think. Most people don't like leaving not knowing when or if they will have another chance of a long term relationship so they get involved before hand so its easier to leave. That's what I have heard others say anyways. But if I was in a miserable relationship I would hope I would just leave. In fact I know I would because cheating is cheating if your miserable or not. |

I think if I was miserable at all, I would leave the marriage, regardless if there was another person involved. If someone is not a habitual cheater, I believe that they would (and should) end one relationship and continue with another. |

If you are miserable in a marriage then why stay in it, what do you have to lose? A happy, loving and respectful relationship is the most valuable asset to have and if you are miserable then what is there to lose.
If you get a divorced first then at least you walk away with some dignity and not as a cheater. |

Why stay in an unfulfilling, "miserable" marriage? Bringing others into a mess that you refuse to handle only complicates things further. Figure out your life first, then involve others. Not the other way around. |
