.... to you "Thanks for letting his go this time" what would that make you think?
I get the impression that he's telling them I DON'T ALLOW HIM TO GO MUCH. Now, he has told me that I control what he does and where he goes, which ticks me off and we will go back and forth until I get him to admit that I have never told him he can't go somewhere or with someone ever... which is why I'm wondering if he may be telling these guys I DON'T LET HIM GO HUNTING.
So, the next time they say that to me, would it be wrong to look them in the eye and ask "You say that as if he tells you I don't let him go, which is the furthest from the truth. I appreciate him more when he goes!"

No, turn to your hubby and say"Do you lie to these guys, telling them I don't LET you go?" Then turn to THEM and say "I do not rule his life, and have never tried to stop him from being with you".
That will call him out, and set things straight. |

I've experienced the same thing. My husband "hides" behind the ol' "my wife won't let me" excuse when he doesn't want to be bothered. I look like the bad guy and all his buddies feel sorry for him. Meanwhile, he is sitting in front of ESPN like a zombie. Once when we were out with friends, the possibility of a guy's outing came up and one guy said, we know you probably won't let Mike go, but please consider it this one time. I said, I've never told him he couldn't do anything. The table went totally quiet. On the ride home my husband said that I'd embarrassed him. SO WHAT??? |
