In an argument my husband has called me really bad names. And then kept hammering them and repeating them.?

I know it is not acceptable and I do NOT and am thinking of the best way to handle it as it has happened before.

But I need to know what is the best way to react or do in the short term as in now, immediately after he calls me names. I have no where to go so please no suggestions of packing and leaving.

Correction: I just cannot leave NOW - in a month I can...till I do I just want to know what is the best way to act. Igrnore him, not speak to him, bring it up...what?

What do you do when he says it? If you react badly he'll know it is hurting you and will keep doing it. The best thing to do is look unfazed by it and he'll think it's not working and should stop. If this doesnt stop it then I dont think there is much you can do but walk away. Explain that you are leaving the room/house because the argument is getting out of control and go back a couple of hours later. You need to explain you are not leaving in a strop but in order for things to calm down.

EDIT: Well, obviously you should definitely leave in a month. If that's the plan, just try to keep out of his way completely for the month. Ignore him. Why put any effort in for the next month if there's no point. I'd do my first suggestion if you HAD to stay and wanted to improve things long term.

If leaving is not in your range of options there is not much wiggle room here. This mans knows your stuck and use's it to his advantage. You always have options of places to go this is a form of abuse. There are shelters you can stay at until you can get on your feet.

Well sorry, then you stay and put up with it.
He will never change and you cannot change him. The only thing you can change is yourself and the situation.

I had this happen. What I did was for every time he called me the C*&t word, I called him his mothers name. He hated it, then started telling me how worthless of a person and mother I was, so I left. Best decisionion I have made in awhile.

You are being emotionally abused and that can be worse than any other abuse as you will start to believe it in the end ,you may not have any where to go now but you must keep asking and planing how to get out there is help out there all you have to do is ask , if you stay you will live a very unhappy life as he knows how to get you down and keep you down. Just read up date ignore him just turn off and think for a day you leave and then you will have the last laugh.
