I just watched this movie over the weekend and wonder what people think about Deb (the sister) and Pete's marriage.
I think it's pretty close to authentic. A woman who gets on the man for his shortcomings and a man who just wants to escape the criticism. I see this in the marriages of most of the people I know. Though the marriage in the movie is a bit extreme at times.

Pretty extreme in the movie, pretty true in a good number of marriages; not all. My husband likes to point out shortcomings because he likes to receive constructive criticism, so he tries to give it when he can. Of course, I'm still a newlywed, but in other marriages I've seen, its a variety.
I do personally know a couple where the woman picks, and picks and nags and berates and nags her guy. I feel bad for him sometimes, but if he stays around and takes it, it must turn him on or something! :-) |

I think it accurately shows two people who where very much in love but who have lost that desire to express their love to one another. Now they just are friends who have kids and co-habitate. |
