The idea of not working outside the home, making him happy and welcomed after a hard day, dressing pretty for him, pampering him, hosting parties, decorating, gardening, all while he works (at things I don't really get!), and my only worries are to please and love!

there's nothing wrong with being a domestic goddess. There are women that are perfect for that job and you are one. It's a trying job,and you can sometimes be taken for granted as I once was. They get spoiled to the behavior and if one day you don't feel like doing everything, you may have a man that will say hey why didn't you do...Its your job.Just be careful. |

if the two of you can afford that lifestyle, then why not?
let's hope that he feels the same way about your contribution to the marriage. |

I think that is great. Especialy if it makes you happy. As long as you don't lose sight of yourself while pleasing others. Make sure you do take time for yourself.
A lot of good things came out of that decade. There sure weren't problems with society as there is today. We have a lot to learn from that decade and others that came before it. |

Is it abnormal that I want to marry you? |
|

HE'S NOT INTO ME
|
No. Thats not abnormal. My mom was a housewife. I think its just different people and different personalities-Its like some people love working. Some people love being taken care of. Some people love taking care of another person. Its normal and healthy as long as it doesn't consume you (like anything else, including work, etc.) Being a housewife, now-a-days may be a luxury thats not a possibility unless your husband has $$. But good for you- if you know thats what you want and you find it. :D |

It is most definately strange in this day of age.
This world would be a much better place if we all had the same idea.
Who would treat each partner with the same regards as they would like |

I THINK IT'S A REAL NICE WAY OF THINKING. MYSELF I AM A HOUSEWIFE AND MOTHER AND IT WAS HIS IDEA FOR ME TO DO THAT WHEN WE STARTED HAVING CHILDREN. I LIKED WORKING OUTSIDE THE HOME WHEN IT WAS JUST THE TWO OF US BUT I HAVE BEEN A HOUSEWIFE FOR 12 YEARS AND I REALLY LOVE IT. IT GIVES ME TIME TO CLEAN FOR HIM AND RAISE OUR CHILDREN THE WAY WE TALKED ABOUT RAISING THEM. I DON'T KNOW WHO GETS MORE BEVEFITS FROM ME STAYING AT HOME ME OR HIM |

thats what i would love to do too... if he brings in enough money and he doesn't mind, go for it... don't let feminatzi's drag you down.
and mind you, that a housewife is one of the hardest jobs there is, so don't let those fools make you think you would be lazy for it... you cook and clean and chase kids all day and you are like the manager of this business called "home" |

No, it is not abnormal.
I was raised in the 50ies by a Women's Lib mom. I think I was the only kid in school that had a mom that worked outside the home. She raised me to be just like her. I tried it for 10 years and hated every day. Now I stay home, I am a regular Suzie Homemaker and love my life.
Of course for many years I was a disappointment to my mother. But now that she realizes how much happier I am, she sees that this is really the life for me, not climbing the corporate ladder.
I still keep my mind active - you don't have to be empty headed to stay at home. I keep up with current events and have even taught myself HTML and other various web based programs.
Don't let anyone tell you that you are "JUST" a housewife!!!! |

It may not be abnormal, but it isn't very realistic. Decorating and hosting parties indicates a level of income that is not feasable for almost any American who at the same time is supporting every other fiscal aspect of life for 2 adults (and possibly children). That's not to say it doesn't exist, it does. But the level of society that can support this lifestyle is very insular and you would find it hard to break into. |

Not at all. When my wife was alive, all she ever wanted to accomplish in life was to have kids and raise a family. However, due to complications with our daughter, she was limited to just one child.
I'm a working class dog; and all she wanted to be was my wife and my child's Mom.
To me, there's really no higher aspirations than that.
Talk about being all you can be. I think that women who shovel their kids off to day care centers are shying away from the daily things that Motherhood is all about.
Bully for you, and you got a lucky husband. |
