My partner and I have not been doing too well lately.... We live 3,000 miles away and I decided to go see her next month. The thing is I dont want to tell her just show up, Is that rude if I dont tell her in advance? I just want to work things out in person and Im willing to travel to do it. should i tell her Im coming? Or not?

Yes, you should definitely tell her you are coming. Just showing up would be extremely rude. Why would you want to do a "pop in", are you trying to catch her with someone else? What would be the purpose? How would you like that kind of surprise? I am betting you wouldn't. If she hasn't seen you for a while, she will naturally want to look her best when she does. You could catch her not looking her best and that wouldn't be cool. |

I would say if things were going well with you guys, then it is so nice to surprise her. But because things are not to good at the moment it might be best to tell her. By the way tell her how much she means to you that you are prepared to travel just to come and see her to work things out. I hope it all works out for you! |

Do you have an ulterior motive in turning up unannounced - like catching her with someone else?
I personally love surprises but if you're having troubles I would probably let her know.

no just show up you shouldn't feel like you need to tell her if you guys are having trouble you should be able to show up unannounced. |

Its very rude to show up unannounced and a bit creepy as well! Im dealing with a similar situation myself but in my case he is the one poppin up! No matter what the problem is...popping up on someone is a major invasion of privacy! If it were me i would be more upset if you just showed up....give her a fair chance to say if she wants to see you or not! |

Usually it is rude to go anywhere unannounced. But your partner is an exception. It would not be rude. BUT, you may be in for a rude awakening. If you do it be prepared to be surprised yourself. Sometimes coast to coast relationships hold a lot of secrets.
A surprise visit is exactly what I would do but, I would want to know what I might find. You may not. Consider carefully. Once you know something it is out there and cannot be erased. Good luck. |

What if you travel all that way to find her shutting the door in your face, you find her with someone else, or she is gone and you never do contact her.

That question leads me to believe that you have boundry issues which may be affecting your relationship. Some people don't know some of the right's and wrong's of things and end up stepping on another's toes and causing hard feelings. Is that what spilled over into your relationship? |
