Compromise is a death nell to a marriage.
You don't understand.........in compromise, both parties (or all parties) have to give up something for the other in order to find a solution. Both parties go away losing something to get a little of what they wanted in the first place. If you continually compromise - you will continually feel that you are losing to the other person.
Marriage is not about what you can get - it's what you can give.

In most Indian marriages the wife has 2 do all the compromising. I should know that as I am the Queen of Compromise.

Compromise is not commitment. For little things, you need to compromise every day to maintain the peace. Commitment is keeping your promises. If your partner is going back on basic principles of your relationship and violating your trust, that is disrespect. Don't compromise your self-respect. Stand up for what is right and expect your partner to respect your feelings.

To an extent yes. Marriage is a give and take commitment. But with this you can't lose who you truly are. Compromise and communication go hand and hand here.

compromise is something you do when you simply can't accept something - doesn't mean you compromise on EVERYTHING, somethings you have to just learn to deal with if they aren't worth the fight.

Marriages are also about understanding, trust, love, and most important of all - teamwork and co-operation!!!

An Indian man seldom compromises, so for him, married life is bliss, he does not have to "adjust" to living in his inlaws home, he does not have to cook, clean or do anything really. SO, let's rephrase:
For the Indian man, no compromise
For the Indian lady: ONLY compromises, one after the other. after the other.....

Yes, you have to compromise on many ambitions of married life as all desires can't be fulfilled bcoz you have only 24 hours per day , not more. Similarly you have youth in your body only for limited period of time. It is between husband & wife how nicely they utilise their golden period in optimised manner with good planning. Many things can't be achieved even if you have rsources but not time. Best thing is to achieve maximum happiness together as much as you both can.

I really don't think they are the same thing.

You can be committed without being willing to compromise. I do think that compromise AND commitment are both essential for a marriage to stand the test of time, but I do not think they are even close to being the same thing.
