It's not a matter of the world ending, an Apocalypse is not coming to destroy us all. The Mayan Calendar ends several times, each more quickly than the last. The end of the calendar is about a significant alteration in the workings of the world or something new coming for huamanity. The last end was at around the time of the industrial revolution. So who knows maybe 2012 will bring us some awesome new tech that completely changes how we live. No one knows though, because the Mayans never wrote that sort of thing down.
Basically over years this has turned into a "white mans myth". In all actuality its the sign of a new beginning to the Mayans. The cycle is basically starting over. |

If you look at it this way...Series of events happen. Every time you have a new event..it will change the one that follows. Right.
So the Mayan calendar was created how long ago. But it would of only worked if life kept going on and living ..Like they lived it.
Since we have changed everything after then, so will the calander and time line of the end of the world.
Don't worry. Michio Kaku just told me last night on the Discovery Channel that a few light years away is another planet similar to earth..and they will all figure it out how to get us there to continue on after Bruce Willis is shot into outer space and then Keanu..oh wait..
