I love my fiance very much. We get along well and I couldn't imagine life without him... Until we sit at a table for a meal. He takes very large bites, chews food with his mouth open and talks while his mouth is so full of food that I can't understand what he's saying. It's gotten to the point that I don't enjoy having a meal with him. I just realized that I avoid dinner dates with him and do my best to eat before we meet up. A part of me says this is very minor, try to let it go. The other part of me says, pay attention, this will be the rest of your life. I realize this is just one of those things that completely annoys me but I also have to wonder if I will ever be able to accept his eating habits and sit down at the dinner table to this every night. (It stops me from eating as I get grossed out and disgusted.) I have talked to him about it and he simply says, "that's just how I eat".
I've been told these minor snags are what typically tear a marriage apart. Is that true? Any suggestions on how to make this more pleasant for both of us? Eating isn't an option, it's a requirement and it's one that I just don't like doing with him at all.

I agree with those who say that minor snags are what tear a marriage apart. It's understandable if a partner has serious problem such as a gambling problem. At least you know that these issues need time, patience andtreatmentt. But the issues that can be avoided by putting in a little effort will eventually build resentment and serious tension.
I can picture you 5 years from now picking your plate up off the dinning table and sitting in the lounge room alone. Tell him about how it frustrates you. I wonder, does he eat like that when your out with friends? If so, it wont be long till you publicly point out his disgusting behavior... |

If you really love him, you will accept it......now....no use waiting to see if you can tolerate it later........your not going to get any more tolerant of it and he shouldn't have to eat differently just to satisfy you. But thats what love is all about....accepting each others imperfections and if you can't do that, then you shouldn't be with him :( sorry |

It's not what he does, it's how you react to it that will make or break the marriage. If you can live with it and love him regardless, then it's really not a problem. |

For the rest of your married life, you will be eating with your husband 2 or 3 times a day.
Consider counseling before you go through with the marriage.
When I met my guy and decided to marry him ? He had some really funky habits, tout Io. He still does.
But I love him more than his funky habits. I have some funky habits, too.
We love each other.
You need to feel that way too, before you walk down the isle.
