My husband left me in my Country without money, sick and abandoned. He wants to get the divorce without giving me the chance to be in front of the Judge. I want to hire an attorney, but I have no money, but this is so unfair, what can I do? I hardly have some money to go back to the United States.... Can I still have a lawyer?

blkgs3 - I wish I lived where you live. Every divorce lawyer I called wants a retainer. You think they'll do any work for you without knowing they have some money in hand? Nope.
Anyway, there are lawyers out there will help. Usually they are non-profit organizations where attorneys donate their time to help (mostly women). I don't know what country you are in and I don't know which state your husband is going for a divorce. You both have to appear before the judge. |
