My boyfriend of 2 years lives with me in my home. Recently, my daughter who is a young adult came home to live for a brief time - 1 month or so while she finds an apartment. Well, she is disrespectful and has a mouth on her. So, he goes to the bar after work and doesn't come home until 8 or 9pm because he doesn't want to be around her and then goes right up to bed and watches tv. What do you think?

it is neither desertion or abandonment, it's merely getting away from your loud mouthed daughter till she leaves. But hey, she is a part of "your" family and if he can't take her he surely won't be able to take you either. Sometimes things are in a "package deal" and you and your daughter are a package. Forget this guy if he can't put your daughter in her place and she doesn't respect him. Or, why don't you put your daughter in her place so you can have a life. |

It is neither. It is called preservation. By him going to the room he can avoid problems with your daughter. When she leaves he will probably be back to normal. |

Why are you allowing your brat of a daughter behave that way in your home? I wouldn't want to come home either. Straighten her out or he may leave. |

I think it's neither desertion or abandonment, the man went out and came back. I also think that if your daughter can't respect to rules of his house she needs to get her butt out. |

No it means he wants to be respected and for your daughter to respect the fact someone is paying for her asss to live there. |

If this was me I would be pissed off this is his kid and he should be handling this problem (with you of course). If he doesn't want to deal with the problem and she is within age tell her to leave. If she's disrespectful she needs to leave. Him not being home is not going to make the situation any better. As far as your question I think it's both desertion and abandonment to you and the young adult. I hope your situation gets better. |
