It's been 4 years and I've still gotten no confirmation that he would like to marry me?

I am 25 & he is 33. He says he has a problem with the way my daughter acts and he says he wants to wait untill I am done with school and in my career. Otherwise our relationship has been great, we go outon dates regularly, sometimes double date with his brother, he comes tochurch with me when he is off work too. Is he just making lame excuses or do you think he's just trying to make a smart decision?

He has a problem with the way your daughter acts, I would find out a little more about this. Your daughter can't be that old, so it might just be the age he doesn't like. Also, you might want to find out if he wants children, and if that fits into your future plans.

There is nothing whatsoever wrong with taking things slow. The alternative is moving too fast, and ending up on a dead end street.
Continue to get to know him, enjoy his company, and work hard at school. Just because you have a child does not mean you are coming in with excess baggage. You are a beautiful soul, your child is a blessing in your life, and if he can't deal well with the fact that you have a child by another person, then that is his problem.

If you stay with this man you're going to have to accept his decision of him procrastinating to get married perhaps he may never want to be married and he is fine of just living with you.
That's the way I see it.
I'm not one who tells people to stay or leave their relationships to each their own.

It is unnatural for a man to wish to raise another man's child, just as it is unnatural for a woman to wish to invest her time and energy raise a child that is not hers biologically. Nature made us that way.

And he is acting as all men act when there is a "third" (your child by a previous relationship) in the mix.

He's very wise to make sure you finish your schooling.

That said, he is as well telling you he is reluctant to take on your child. At least he is being level with you.

Put yourself in his place: How anxious would you be to take on full time his child if he had one??????

He's not making lame excuses, hon, he's being honest with you.... kids of other men are baggage. And he's not sure he wants it full time.
