Its almost our one year wedding anniversary, what should I get my husband. Whats something thats cheap, but romantic?

I've been married 31 years but on our first anniversary my wife had her sister baby sit our son for the weekend. I came home Friday after work and she had a candle lit dinner going and she was all dressed up. Fancy dress and high heels the works! She had cooked my favorite meal. She had the fire place going and soft music in the back ground. She had a new teddy that she had before we got married that she had saved for this special day. We got each other cards and I got her 2 dozen roses and that was about it, but just the fact that we had Friday evening through Sunday noon to ourselves meant more then all the gifts in the world.
If you can't afford gifts then do something special for him at home. His favorite meal and make it a romantic evening just for the both of you. Shut off phones, lock doors and closes shades. Just enjoy each other in your own special ways! That time together will mean a lot to the both of you for a long time to come. |

My husband and I do not exchange gifts. We spend the day or weekend together. When we were first married, with no money, It might have been a picnic or a hike or a bike ride on a new trail or a camping trip. Now we try to go somewhere new or try something new. Create a fun tradition for your anniversary - create it together - get his input.

For my husband's and mine first anniversary, I got him an atlas and told it was for all our future trips together. I got this because the gift is supposed to be paper and I couldn't come up with anything else that is paper.
But he seemed to like that I was looking to the future. I think the first anniversary is a good time to make the other person feel like you think you made the right choice marrying them so try to convey that in some way. |

The frist wedding anniversary gift is traditionally supposed to be a "paper" gift. My husband and I like to celebrate our anniversaries in the traditional way, so we do inexpensive gifts in the traditional form.
My husband had a romance novel made for me that had our names in the story -- it was a story of him and I. I LOVE to read, so it was a wonderful gift for me.
At our wedding, my husband serenaded me with "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra, so for our 1st anniversary I purchased the sheet music to the song and had it framed. It still hangs in our bedroom today, he loved it. You could always frame the sheet music to whatever song your first dance was?
Other Ideas:
-Concert tickets (paper)
-A poem you wrote
-A journal, so that every year on your anniversary you can make an entry about how you celebrated (my husband and I also did this.)
-A book
