Jealous of hubby and sis-in-law relationship..?

My hubby and his sister are very very close... they talk about things together and even when we go out, they hug each other, she sometimes strokes his head, he holds her etc...does this seem a little weird?
I sometimes feel uncomfortable when they do this infront of me... everyone always tells me they are very close and I can see that he see's her as very close, but how do I get over it and just let them be the way they are...
I've never caused problems for them or split them up but if I find it uncomfortable I quickly go away from them and do something else as it makes my blood boil! It's very unhealthy for me to feel like this especially as we all live together... whats the best way to deal with this?
I am close to my siblings but it's not all touchy feely...yeh, I do talk to them about things I don't discuss with my hubby..
I find that him and his sis talk a lot more when I'm not there... arrrghhh!

AnswerDude has a point - some families are affectionate.
Mine however, are not, so I can understand why you'd feel uncomfortable.
It's what you are comfortable with - talk to your husband, he may not realise if you haven't said anything to him before. It maybe just part of his upbringing, being close to his sister. But he is married now and this is something you should be able to talk about as a couple.
You are not trying to get between them, you are just telling him how it makes you feel. You may want a gentle introduction to the discussion, especially given as you all live together.
And stop blaming yourself - just be open, honest and non-judgemental towards him. Then work from there.

Some families are more affectionate!
My grandmother kisses everyone! My buddies would be at my house and I would see a lipstick mark on their cheek and of course my grandmother kissed them when she saw them!
I hug and kiss my sisters on the cheek when I see them too!
Our family is moderately affectionate in my opinion but in others opinion they might say we are overly affectionate???? |
