Marriage counseling/Divorce/Reconc...

Ok so my husband has been trying to get this divorce...if you haven't read this here it is..http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkYdtKvdhxUoktH.ZfXswCgjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20090416131037AAlgpLV

Now that you've read that crap, this morning I called him and told him I will sign the papers...BUT only if we go to marriage counseling! He said he will go and be open to going. He is confusing one minute he wants to just divorce and the next minute he's on the fence. Last night he told me he is open to us going back to dating etc etc if I sign the papers. He also said his family told him to stop communicating with me altogether but we talk everyday..he is trying to speed up the divorce because of this school situation. I've found out that in our state the judge can order us to go into counseling/mediation first.

Is this the actions of a man who wants to get a divorce? He also told me he is staying busy so he won't think about it. Input? Go easy he is still my husband and I am pregnant.

Yeah Happy I am not signing the papers I just tricked him into going to therapy for the real issue at hand and that is his family. He would be so much better if he heard it from others..he tried to get that here but you see how that went! I did contact my beast of an attorney she is a firm believer in counseling to let her know he is open to it. Thank you for the mature answer.

I answered that question.

I don't think he knows what he wants. He is rather easily swayed by people around him, especially his father. My answer to him stands. He needs to grow a backbone and do whatever he needs to do on his own two feet, not because of any outside influence.

If I were you, I wouldn't sign the papers. I'd insist on counseling, and I would bring up to the counselor the issue of his father's undue and harmful influence.

I agree with "Happy2""...You need as much Counseling as possible....Leave the in-laws- relos and any other "wishing-well-to do" advice givers out of it.There are way too many marriages being destroyed in the US and here in Australia by others (including Lawyers-who have most to make out of it) who should stay away from giving advice and stick to support without interference. I too lost my wife after almost 25 years only because her sister and other interfered rather than going to Marital Counseling. Most marriages can be saved without too much cost to the couples.Of course there are obvious exceptions...You must talk, talk and talk much more and keep the in-laws-out of it.Good luck to you.

Why would you want any of us to go easy on this jack@ss? The first problem is that neither of you is apparently responsible enough to quit riding on the coat tails of others, meaning living with his dad, the constant drama, I can't blame the dad for wanting you out--it is easier for him to boot you and the kids, because this is his son. There is no reconciling in this situation, he has made up his mind to attend law school in another state and that doesn't include you and the kids--which I'm guessing are fathered by someone else-which is why he doesn't feel any obligation to them. Why would you want to remain in a loveless marriage with someone who doesn't even believe your pregnancy is from his loins? Get rid of this fool, clearly he is not providing anything but agony for you and your children. Even if the child is his, he clearly is the type that is not going to be electively supportive, you will have to battle him for everything. Let him get his law degree and sue the hell out of him for child support. Forget counseling this marriage was over a long time ago.

I think he is feeling guilty about leaving you. Shows a little compation but if he loved you like he should "marrage" he would jump all over the chance to save it... Dump him. Lots of us good guys out there...begin your search and move on. Life is short
