We have been going out with eachother now for 3 months but we have liked eachother for a bit over a year. He has told me he wants to marry me someday and said that he promises i am going to be his wife one day. He is 23 and I am 19. (I don't intend on getting hitched to him yet though... :)

8 years and still waiting. We were young when we got together, but i think now he has had plenty of time to work it out. we are 24 now and i am still waiting, although i don't think i am going to wait much longer.
Bit of advice, don't do what i have done. Don't wait 8 years, because it makes you feel terrible, and unsure if he is ever going to ask and you will begin to wonder if you have wasted all that time building a relationship thats not going anywhere.

I think about 3 or so years is a good time to be with someone when the idea of marriage should arise, because you should know each other well enough by then. However if you are in your teens, maybe a bit longer that this would be wise. I don't think anyone should think about marriage untill they are in their 20's, just because people change so much in their late teens. Altough each person is different!

In some cases, it's not wise to marry right away (here are GOOD reasons to wait.)
1. He/She needs to have a better job
2. Needs to finish college
3. Less than 25 years old
4. Goals to meet before marrying

Here are the biggest crocks of BS (after you have been dating 2 years)
1. Not sure

3. Goals to finish, (but they are not working toward it and are no where near finishing it)
4. Not enough money for a ring (Sorry, but my dad bought my mom a tiny ring, but he WANTED to marry her)
5. No reason as to why

Look, if you have been waiting more than two years... IT'S NOT WORTH IT!! By the 2 year mark you should know and if he doesn't know by then... he's NEVER going to know. Which means your not the one for him. DON'T WASTE YOUR YOUTH ON SOMEONE WHO IS NEVER GOING TO MARRY YOU!!!
