It's not we're non-committal, it's society's desire for marriage.
We see all these tv shows and movies about how GETTING MARRIED is important to women. The actual having of a wedding and being married as a status seems more important to you then being married to us. Many guys are afraid the girls they marry are more interested in GETTING MARRIED then getting married to them. It's like you decide, "Okay, I should be married and Bill here is going to be good enough." It's not true love any more with all the pressure.
When a girl says, "Where is this going?" she's asking for a time frame with something that exists the rest of our lives. You should be happy to be with us. A wedding doesn't define a relationship and getting married, besides the status of being a wife and having a ring, won't change how things work.
We don't like that you are shopping us like cars. "This car is nice, it will do because I have to have a car" = "This guy is nice enough and I can change him so I can have a ring, a wedding day, and I can be married."
That's why we don't jump at it. |

because we tend to get burned so bad if things go wrong. divorce is very costly for men, especially if there are kids involved. the other issue is that we fear not being able to be ourselves after marriage and do the things we want to do. |

Well I guess every man has his reason.
For me it has to do a lot with his and her background. If his parents are divorced and he visits his inlaws to be which are also divorced and sees the mother in law to be living in the family mansion and the father living whatever life he can afford after kepping her in the lifestyle she got accostumed to, he is going to have second thoughts about marriage.
But if I see that it worked for her parents, why should it not work for me and her.
Do not worry so much about the men, worry about yourself. Is your family honor intact (that means your mom did not file for divorce when she was not the primary earner) ? Are you wife material ? |
