My best friend is having dinner with my ex husband?

My best friend is having dinner with my ex husband?

Am I right to feel betrayed? I've been divorced 5 years. My BFF and her husband had a cookout with my ex and children at her house for his birthday. They've known my ex for a very long time and we were all friends when we were together. However when I divorced, she said she was "my" friend. Am I wrong to feel uncomfortable and angry with her?

It wouldn't be so bad except that she knows all the history of his lying and abuse to me. It's hard to have her as a confidant but still see him.

It's normal to feel uncomfortable, but you must understand that your split with him is a decision you made between yourselves. You can't expect others to end their established relationships with your ex because you did. What you should expect, though, is for your friend to continue to be a loyal friend to you and not do anything intentionally to hurt you (like telling you how well he's doing, telling him your business, etc). Remember, your ex is also friends with her husband, so this is more normal than you may think. Give her a break, and try to take time to process it all. I'm sure you'll feel a little better about it soon.

Stop being bitter. Your headline for this thing makes us all think your bff is dating your ex husband. But in reality she and her husband invited him over for lunch. Get over it. Maybe her husband likes your ex and they like to chill. Worry about your own life.

After five years it is SUPPOSE to be over. He is free and clear and this isnt highschool. If it bothers you that bad seek a new friend but they've done nothing wrong.

Bitter with control issues ?

You have no say in what they do and that just freaks you out ,doesn't it ?

maybe if it was 5 weeks ago when you broke up but it's been 5 years go over it.

my friend took a guy I liked they were together for 5 years. took about 3 months before I would talk to her again. and both of them.
They both are not with each other and married over the past 8 years or so. and both are my friend she was in my wedding and he came to my wedding. I love them both as friends only but neither one of them told me not to be friends with their ex.
Aren't your shoulders heavy for carring this with you for 5 years.
REally?

Yes. You're wrong and immature. At least, concerning this you are. Not trying to pass character judgement, here. If I were in your position, after 5yrs, whatever bitterness I had would be gone because I would've moved on with my life and hoped that he had too. So, I probably woulda been at my BFF's house partying along with everyone else.

I'm sorry you feel betrayed, but you don't own her friendship and she probably feels torn herself because while she likes you, she also likes your ex-husband and whatever caused the 2 of you to break up had nothing to do with her, so why should she drop her friendship with him?

Sounds like your BFF's husband is BFF's with your ex. It's something you'll have to deal with.

hahahaha i guess i was unaware that friends were "assets" that could be divided in the divorce!

get over it if yall were all friends then your ex hubs and her hubs are probably still close.. so you just think they should stop being freinds??

They are adults, and entitled to have whomever they wish over to their home as guests.
You feel angry because when you divorced your ex, you wanted/hoped/expected everyone else to "divorce" him as well.
That's not fair.
Take a deep breath.
Don't put other people in the middle or YOU'LL be the ultimate loser.

you have the right to feel however you want to feel. however its very selfish and silly to feel that way. you dont own him ...her or her husband they can do what they please. you said yourself they have all known and been friends with your ex for a long time...you been divorced for many years now too...seriously need to move on. you do your thing..let him and the friends you BOTH share do there thing.
