so. my boyfriend and his ex-wife just got a divorce. he lived here in California and she lives in Texas. he got custody of their child and then moved to Colorado, then he moved to Texas. is he violating custody orders? and if so, should he just come back to California so he isn't in danger of getting his son taken away? if he isn't violating custody orders, how simple would it be to get the custody switched over to Texas?

i wasnt expecting anyone to have an exact answer. i just figured that MAYBE someone has gone through something similar. damn, no need to be rude.

Most states require the custodial parent to notify the other parent in writing 90 days prior to moving, otherwise they are in violation and there will be repercussions if his ex-wife tells the court.
And you don't get custody "switched over." |

i think all depends on what the paper says. i was once filling for custody but it specified that i will be moving from that state, it didnt say where tough, but as long as the other party sign i should have keep him posted of our whereabouts. i will just read what it says about visitations or aks a legal service person |
