My wife left me and took house keys/garage door opener?

My wife left me less than a week ago after I decided to continue our divorce. The thing I don't understand is why she didn't leave the keys to the house and garage door opener? I've had the locks changed and the garage door openers reprogrammed but I just don't understand why she kept the keys and garage door opener if they weren't going to be any use to her anymore. She also left all her pots and pans. Maybe she bought some more but that to is also confusing.

I forgot to add that I owned the house before we got married (its in my name) and we've only been married 6 months.

because she knows in the divorce she will get either get the house or at least half of what it is worth, plus what ever else is on the property. so she took the keys to her soon to be house and the garage door opener for her soon to be car (or cash value of each) |

I took both when I left my ex-wife. At the time, it seemed like we were having an amicable divorce. She'd asked me to come over and fix a computer for the kids. I half-expected to have occasional family dinners. I was deluded. She'd already hired a pit-bull attorney to take everything, and she also changed the locks.
But it was my house, too. I got half the equity back, but I put ALL the equity in. Even after she changed the locks, I had a locksmith make me a key when she was heading out of town and a hurricane was heading into town, so I could get in and board it up if I had to. Most of my net worth was in that house, so it was very important to me.
I can't speak for your wife. But that's my story. |
