My wife wants 'a job'. Is she being ridiculous?
Find answers to your legal question.

My wife wants 'a job'. Is she being ridiculous?

My wife has informed me that she is sick and tired of living a life of leasure, and wants to get 'a job', such as working in a supermarket (whatever that is) or an office.
We basically live off the profits of my forbears, to put it frankly. I've never worked a day and naturally my wife spends her days going out, going to her clubs etc. leaving me to my pursuits. Now, she wants to joing the gutter classes and earn some paltry wage. Is she sick in the head? Has the world lost its kilter? I feel that the comfortable dynamic of our relationship will be thrown if she becomes a common worker.

she is patently sick of mind and the kindest thing would be to have your vetiarian put her out of her misery...God forbid you may breed from such deranged stock...Think of the future man!! Think of your family!!! You have a duty to all your class!!!

Apathetic
If you are what you say you are, you wouldn't be wasting your time on Y/A with the rest of us 'gutter class' of people.

Don't let her do it!!! She might start mingling with the common folk and maybe just maybe bring one of them home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! imagine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

At the risk of sounding a dangerous upstart, I feel you should allow her to get a job. This stops her sponging off you and more importantly gets her out of the house all day every day, allowing you to bring the mistress in without fear of being discovered.

Surely that isn't a bad thing?

well she wouldn't be common for a start would she?
perhaps she could beat the servants or perhaps go peasant shooting might distract her
if all else fails a dam good rogering off the game keeper normally does the trick
Lady Chatterley and all that

although its quite remarkable the common folk who answered above dont have a the slightest concept of irony
what else would you expect off the chattering classes
ay what
fault of those dam Americans and those situation comedies
talk about catering to the lowest common denominator

Not everyone was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Personally, I prefer to work than have a "life of leisure".

Well old boy what with your flamboyant and extravagant lifestyle perhaps she feels the need to become a woman of substance in her own right..

I would imagine moving in the circles you move in would be so 'Scarlet Pimpernel' don't you know and maybe she also feels the need to let loose from the shackles of those claustrophobic swaree's.

Oh pl...eeese just let her be common as muck and mix with us common folk as we'll take care of her.

Have you ever thought your wife feels worthless, or maybe she doesn't want to ask for your money and wants to be indepent and make her own money.

It's a midlife crisis. She'll be doing charity work next, and then encourage you to fling open the doors of the ancestral home to the great unwashed so that they can gawp at the living room, courtesy of the National Trust.

Firsty you need to find out where she's been getting these crazy ideas from. Perhaps she's been conversing with the servants (I know - the very idea is absurd but have them dealt with swiftly without finding out the truth, you don't want to waste your time with such trivialities.).
Then slap her about till the hysterics are knocked out of her and tell her about a special little job she can do just for you.

Sir, There are many common people out here who have
never worked a day and live a life of leasure.
It is not off the backs of their forbears I fear, but off
the back of the rest of us. The Government pay them
to be indolent, I think it is called Social Security.
Tell your wife she belongs upstairs and leave the downstairs
staff to get on with their reason for being - to look after
you and pander to your every wish.

why on earth would she want to work when she can afford not to? She must be off her head. I would advise taking her to a doctor and getting her examined. Anyone who works when they don't have to is a loony.

I also think it's immoral. People who don't need to work have no business taking jobs from people who do.

It might be worth you getting a job too. Its the normal thing to do in life. I have a tidy fortune and can live of my investments very comfortably, but everyone needs to work so that they can appreciate the time off.

sack the window cleaner & give her the job ,then you,l have the satisfaction of seeing her work.

Dear, hopefully you will have people from your own class, who will want to answer you instead of enjoying their idle life.
My bet is most of the people here are the working type;
So, why would you want or even read any answer from that working class you're looking down on??
Just get a life!
Your wife sounds less stuck up than you.
With all the money you have surely you could afford a marriabe counsellor of your class?!!

you are crazy- a supermarket is where you got to get groceries! Let your wife do what she pleases...it is HER life! Most likely she could get tired of working and quit...but let her try it! Oh are you royalty or something? I think it would be a good public image to see rich people working like everyone else...shows people you aren't self-centered, selfish, elite, and don't care about what is going on! WAKE UP CALL- you are like everyone else-- we are all equal under God's eyes, and he was the one who created us! Pick up a bible if you didn't know that!
