Marriage is about two people committed to their marriage above everything else. Marriages grow and evolve and change, and both parties have to be committed for the long haul, knowing that the only way to weather the bad times is to stick together, get help when you need it, and talk to each other honestly about everything, and never attack the other person. I don't think it matters what age you get married. My great-grandmother got married when she was 16, and they were together till death do us part. My parents got married straight out of college, she was 22, he was 21. They've been married for 24 years. Age doesn't matter. Maturity and commitment does. Marriage has to be more than just love, but any two people are capable of doing that, if they're willing to put in the effort.

well chances are slim of it lasting long. maybe 5 years at the most? and really depends on how young you're talking about. i think 22 is a good age. gettin married too young can ruin it for the long run. would you rather get married now and it end in a few years or wait til mid 20's and have it last for a lifetime. it also depends on how much both of you put into a relationship. |

Divorce rates are extremely high for couple who get married between the ages of 18-21. They are even higher between the ages of 21-24, then take a steep decrease from the ages of 25-29, and then a continual decrease from 30 and up. |

I was married at 21 and my wife was 20. We have been married for 36 years with 4 children and 7 grandchildren. But I know we are not the norm. It takes both of you to want to make it work. There are tough times ahead but how you handle them determines the results. |
