Order to leave the U.S., how long is needed to stay out in order to come back in.?

Someone I know has a wife and he was getting her legalized to continue staying in the U.S. Later on, she recieved a letter telling her that she has 30 days to leave the country. She or he have no criminal record whatsoever. So my question is, "what is an estimated time she will have to stay out of the country in order for her to come back in?"
