to her wedding this weekend, and most of her relatives were flying from mexico to be there, would you go to the wedding or make an excuse. (btw, this is regarding the SWINE FLU SCARE. Would catching the swine flu be in the back of your mind or would you just forget about it, and go to the wedding.)

I would go....just like I ate tomatoes and peanut butter when there was the salmonella scares. The media and government are notorious for blowing things out of proportion and scaring people half to death. You can't lock yourself inside just b/c you "might" get something.

Well, they have heavily restricted travel to and from Mexico so there may not be any relatives there. My dad just had to cancel his trip (he was leaving tomorrow). I would probably try to go, but if you aren't comfortable don't do it. |

No matter how good friends you are with her, your health should be more important.
I'm not saying that the relatives would have swine flu but they are travelling from an area that is ravaged by the flu which would makes me think twice about going.

I do not see this as a racist issue. I think that expusure to anyone that has been in or is coming from mexico is not a good idea, that is why the authorities are concerned about it. You should be concerned as well. I would not go. So, send a nice gift and take them out to dinner after they get back fromtheir honeymoon and have shown no signs of illness for a few weeks! |
