Please help, I have to do Custody Mediation tomorrow...?

My soon to be exwife and myself are going to child custody mediation tomorrow and I'm not sure what to expect. And, it turns out, our daughter's Guardian ad Litem is the mediator. Which I believe he is already siding with my ex. She is a very good actress and very munipulative, so I understand why.

Anyway, she's been sending me lies on text messages saying I turned down visits with my daughter among other things. All of which I know shes only doing to show him and try to make me look bad. We are both fighting for full custody, but I would consider settling for joint.

Any help or advice would be great! I have no idea what to expect!

Explain how much you love your child and how you understand the importance of co parenting in this day and age.Explain that you want what is best for the child.Maybe talk to your child's teacher and see hoe they are doing in school. You can mention this also.
Be civil to your ex and polite to all.
You'll make it easy for her to get custody if you ***** or argue.

Let her look like the angry one with revenge on her mind.

I suggest you go in there and tell them that all you care about is seeing your child. you could careless if it is full custody or joint as long as shes in your life! they will not give anyone joint custody unless there has been some sort of abuse or drugs are involved. You can also request a different mediator concidering your wife knows this mediator! It wont be fair and you need a person that is equal to both sides! I think going in there with a positive attitude and an attitude that says im interested in my daughters future and her well being.Tell them that you want your daughter in your life. make sure you have it in there that you want to know all medical pursedures that happens and want full contact with your daughter school. also that you want ot be included in all areas that have to do with your daughter. if possible you would like to have primary residence with you(not full custody but close) and you want legal custody too, that will give you the right to make all major decisions of your daughter. If you live near your daughter and in the same town request weekday overnight visits and each of you have every other weekend visits. holidays need to be discussed. I have it to where we share the holiday and he is suppose to have his child from 8am on the holiday to like 3pm! fathers day is with you and mothers day is with her, reguardless of the new spouses involved. try to make it as peacful as possible, dont yell or bring up anything stupid. the past is the past and what needs to be discusse is the visitations and the future of this child. make sure you let her do the yelling and her do the accusing.stay calm, all this will be in the report. if she doesnt act right they will give you primary custody and her vistations. make sure you know the closest school near you that she might have to go to. and make sure you have a good babysitter just in case they ask. you will be working and they will need to know who will take care of your child while you are at work if you are granted primary custody. all this needs to be in order before this happens. also do you have clothes for this child at your house and do you know anything that will prevent her from having the child in her house, what about her new spouse? is there anything bad about him? do a back ground check on him before you have your court date set! good luck!

No mediation is to come to a agreement, it is a way to discuss options, and only if you agree can it be set in stone. Best results I've seen if you give reasonable alternatives to custody agreement. This mediation is not the final draw, and she has no upper hand with what you have done in the past. That is for the judge to decide when you go to trial.in the case of you missing visitation you better be there for your kid, and be finding a way to document visits, record it, bring a friend, what ever. Also write down times you attempt to call or speak with the child. It will help you.
