The most honest answer in today's dysfunctional family; the children wear the pants. No longer do parents have the rights they once had. their kids set the rules and make the laws, because parents can't punish them as they did int the past, so children get away with all manner of bad behavior.

If we listen to our wives and they respect us we do. Otherwise, they'll take control if they feel we don't listen or if they don't respect us. At least they'll try to take control, that's what causes a lot of problems in marriages. It needs to be open.

Women wear the pants these days....but it's amazing how little they enjoy it. Most women I know who wear the marriage pants are either a) disappointed that their husband won't step up and wear them or b) fearful of depending on others.

Both are significant reasons why marriage is failing these days.

And lets be clear about one thing, women were running things behind the scenes since the beginning.....they just used to be a lot more intelligent about how they went about it.

Most men today are either momma's boys or just plain sick of fighting their wives.

It's all really sad actually. I hope it changes someday.

In my case it isn't my husband being the "rational" one, it's because he is L A Z Y!!!
I've worn the pants for the past 18 yrs and frankly I've tried to give him the pants and he won't take it. You want to know why? Because it comes with responsibility.
The end result, I have no respect for him at all.
BTW that's just my situation.

i think that women are just more outspoken in life, and as you say the men absorb whats going on... but i have seen my share of men that look like they are taking it all in, but just arent paying attention! in any fair relationship, the spouses are equal to one another. a true and happy marriage is not one that has arguments over who wears the pants in the relationship

If it's a smart man the women wears the pants except in the bedroom. I'm a women and I like having control over how my life is run, but in the bedroom I like him to take control.

I think guys just care less about little things..and go with the flow..making it appear that the woman wears the pants in most cases.
