No, it only "protects" the assets you have prior to marriage. Just MAKE SURE you do NOT marry a con artist as I did who ONLY married me for a large lump sum amt. of money I "had" & he made sure I spent it on HIM before he informed me he no longer wanted to "be married" anymore AFTER the money was ALL GONE!!! BEWARE of that! Best to you...:)

No the point of a prenup is to protect what you have before the marriage.And it is also to stipulate what you can be entitled to after and during the marriage.

This can be very complicated. It depends on how the prenup is written. You need to have a lawyer read the prenup and explain what it means - no offence but their is no way anyone can answer this without reading the actual prenup.

You can add clauses for anything and everything in a pre-nup.

The term "pre-nuptual agreement" simply means something that you sign prior to getting married.

Granted, a prenup is designed to protect assets that were acquired before a marriage and especially to keep family heirlooms, stocks, property etc in the family so that it doesn't get lost through a divorce. However, you can stipulate whatever you want in a prenup pertaining to future assets as well.

I'm real big on clarity, so make sure that all your T's are crossed and your I's are dotted.

Yes it most certainly can. Each party will have their own attorney and you can put whatever you want into the premarital agreement. It can cover only assets from before the marriage or those acquired during as well.
For instance, mine says "Wife does hereby expressly waive any rights that she may have in the property or estate of Husband before and after marriage including, without limitation, an allowance in lieu of homestead, exempt property, and family allowance. This provision does not prohibit Husband from providing for Wife in his will or trust, provided, however, Husband does not thereby forfeit his right to change his will or trust at any time he may desire." It says the same with Husband and Wife reversed. We also waived our rights to be covered by the community property laws of our state, stipulated that inheritances are our own separate property and that filing of joint income taxes was not to be constituted as the creation of community property and that our liabilities and debts are also our own.
