Career path...Save the looks for the guys that you have a little something-something on the side with.
Hey how large is your mammal?
I'd kinda like to see it! |

For me it wasn't either of those. At the time my husband was doing security and only making min wage. As for looks, on the outside he's not the best looking, but his heart makes him the most beautiful person in the world. |

looks helped but it was what was more on the inside then anything. His personality and all. |

Neither, it was how he treated(s) me and his moral upstanding.
but he is good looking and very successful ; ) |

The most important thing was how he treated me. I could care less on what money he had unless he was a bum and did not try to work. Looks only go so far. Marriage is not based on looks. |

Initially it is attraction that brings 2 people together, but there are so many other factors to consider before making a decision. For women, yes, gender studies have shown that women do look for men who will also be good providers (career) because they are thinking of starting a family some day. Other things are personality, getting along with others, how he treats me, fidelity, etc. |

career - I mean, that does explain alot about a person. But the looks didn't hurt either. |

It was both and the biggest mistake of my life. |

He made me laugh, I respected him and he is hot....career didn't hurt either...it wasn't one or the other here - it was the whole package.
You have a huge horse with a very short back!!!!!! |

His career path because that will help you see what kind of man he is. I mean if he works at Jack in Box, does he want to be the manger or is happy flipping burgers...both are ok however it shows what kind of ambition he has |

Neither... his brains, compassion, happiness, and big smile. |

Oh, Pahleese,,
When "picking your spouse" he (or she) is a package deal. The initial attraction could be one thing or another, but that's not going to take you very far.
When I met my guy, I liked his looks and his personality. Found out about the career path later, which happened to be going well, so I did ok in all ways. |

Looks initially - I didn't know his career path too well and it wasn't well defined at the time.
He looks even better now. :) |

Neither.I looked for someone who was loyal and respectful and trustworthy.I just got lucky that he was good lookin, and i never cared about how much money he made.
My first was cause he was goodlookin and it got me no where but beat up and divorced ten yrs later |

It was more his personality. When I met him, he wasn't raking in the dough but I saw that his personality was going to take him far. I didn't think much of him looks-wise but as I got to know him, his personality and the way he carried himself made him very attractive to me. It still does. |

Neither. I was more interested in the type of person he is. He's Morals, Personality, etc. But it didn't hurt that he's good looking. :) |

both - in the end looks arent everything but you have to be attracted to one another and its important for your spouse to have career goals and always want to do better for your and his/her future. |

Neither really. Honesty and a sense of humor are more important to me than both of those things. |

His looks does play a small role but more importantly his career path. |
|

dropdeadcherry

Neither.
Him being good looking did help, but wasn't the reason why I ultimately married him.
We started dating when we were 20, so there was no REAL career at the time.
What got me was his sheer determination to be successful at whatever he was doing.
We've been together for 8 1/2 years, and married for 1 1/2 years, and have always just wanted to be together. |

Neither. It is important to marry a man that has a career plan or has a good career, and it is important to marry a person who you think is attractive, but neither of these qualities REALLY matter. I plan on being married to my husband for the rest of my life, his looks will fade. With time he will turn into a old man with gray hair and a cane and truth is I will still love him SO much! Eventually he will retire and then careers will be done. The most important qualities (in my opinion) are true love and Godliness. If I love who he is in the inside I will love who he is on the outside forever. |

Neither, is personality was far more important. Not to say he isn't a really good looking man, but I had dated many good looking men. But he was the only one that didn't tend to annoy me or make me mad. And he was my best friend before anything. And he had a pretty crappy job when we met. |

i had a crush on my husband since high school. i always thought he was so hott. when we finally got together a few years later...it was based on lust and the fact that i still thought he was hot. his job had nothing to do with it as he had just started college even though he was 23 and worked part time at the mall. eventually lust turned into true love but the first thing that attracted me was definetly his looks! |
