When I was 16 I started dating Josh,the most popular guy from school . He was captain on the rugby and soccer team and one of the top students in our class. We planned on getting married after college and being the power couple. In 2006 we were both 22 and in college. We all went to a frat party and HIM and a bunch of his buddies got really drunk and got into a fight with a rival school. There was over 20 people between both school that were involved in the fight that resulted in one guy getting seriously hurt and later dieing. Josh was one of the many guys charged and sent to jail. One month after the accident I found out I was pregnant and gave birth to our daughter Ellie , just weeks before he was sentenced.
Normally Josh isn't a violent person at all.Most people from our community and school were shocked to learn he was involved.
3 months ago he was released and has been spending Alot of time with Ellie and me. He has expressed that he wants to try and pick up the pieces of our relationship. My feelings for him have never changed I still love him like I did then but I am worried want people will think. Will this effect how people see me as a mother? And how will people treat Ellie as she gets older and starts school or wants to have friends?

Yes, people will talk. That's the nature of people. Presumably your daughter would still have contact with her father whether you are together or not, so she will still be subject to talk. There will always be people who judge the child rather than the father and will perhaps not want their children associating with your daughter because of what her father has done. That unfortunately is the down side of being an ex-con.
So, my advice would be - don't take into account what other people are going to say when you make your decision, because they are going to say it anyway, whatever you decide.
Make your decision based on what is right for the three of you. Life will be difficult whichever way you decide. Living with an ex-con has it's problems, but then being a single parent isn't an easy ride either. |

first of all why do you care what people are going to think. if you still love him and want to be with him then do it. you have a baby together and should do everything to make it work. what happened was a tragedy but if he is who you say he is then give it a chance. |

You love him, he's the father of your child. He was 22, drunk and got involved with something that was a mistake and mob mentality. Why should what other people think come into play at all? As far as how you are as a mother, it looks to me like you're trying to let him be involved with his child already, and her friends won't necessarily know what the story is behind their friend's father. Depending on the conditions of his release, it might make more sense to move to somewhere new and start fresh. Only those that have to know about the history would know- just a thought. |

I hear people all the time always ready to kick someone's ____. IF you do it, the chance that your going to get arrested is about 99%. Unfortunately in your BF's case, it went worse.
Think about someone driving down the road and answers there cell phone and hit's another car killing the person. That's how fragile life is. Your behind bars.
