No and thats a stupid question to ask. |

My answer is yes. With the exception that it's not something we "allow". It's hormonal and truly uncontrollable for some women. My Mom and my daughter are vicious when PMSing. BTW, it's not only when we're on our period, for some it's a whole week before our cycle starts that we bahave like a rabid animal. |

Personally, I don't see how some girls get so enraged.
But the hormones affect people differently.
And not always in a good way, or even a bad way.
Sometimes its a terrifying way for other people. |

Well i personally won't get enraged!!! I have never really suffered from PMS/PMT or whichever it is....i get a bit moody a few days prior to "coming on" but only to the boyfriend/Mum etc!! The only thing which would affect MY personal ability to work is that i get pretty terrible period pain sometimes which can make me get really nasty cramps etc and get very dizzy - i have been known to take the odd day of work sick due to this, thankfully my employer is understanding that it IS a medical condition - i am lucky.. i know from past experience that many employers WOULDN'T be so nice about it!!!! Anyway - point being - No, i wouldnt ever have to take time off work due to beng a mardy, stroppy PMS suffering cowbag (no offence to those who really do suffer PMS/PM-whatever, really badly - Its traumatic i am sure!) |

While emotions can run amuck due to the hormonal cycle, it does not change my level of competency at work. Men have used this argument for ages in order to disparage women and it simply has no basis in fact. |

pmt and ur periods r just awful u feel horrible ur angry for no reason u could cry just because someone looked at u and u feel as tho the world is against u if u have a female coworker showing these symptoms give her a BIG bar of chocolate then she might not bite ur head off lol |

Hormones go crazy when women are on their periods. Seriously women can help it. A lot of women get emotional like crying a lot and some get angry. It depends on the woman but I think that they should be able to control it enough to be professional in the workplace. Maybe you should get a midol dispenser for the women's bathroom :) |

I have worked in two industries where the management were primarily women and I can tell you that this actually kinda works in both directions. Yes some women can be overly emotional and unreasonable during that time of the month, but I have also seen instances where a woman in charge let things slide (when she shouldn't have) until the hormonal rage finally gave her the guts to address an issue that sorely needed addressing. And I must say I have seen men do pretty much the same thing... give in and let slide and gloss over and disregard until some 'last straw' finally causes them to break and face down someone who is in the wrong or some situation requiring resolution. As humans, we all have good days and bad days. Obviously we all need to strive to keep balance and professionalism in our sight lines, but sometimes a well-timed freak-out can be rather effective. |

No, I do have PMS. It is bad. I do get angry....I do try to remember the time of the month. I do wish that I could just curl up and make the world go away, but that is nearly impossible, so I pop a couple of midol and try to get through it with chocolate! Seriously, chocolate is great when you are so mad at everything and everyone with no real reason. Don't worry about angry answers, you are right though, don't ask this question over lunch with female coworkers, you never know their cycle! LOL! Have chocolate on hand! LOL! |

This question could only have been asked by a man! Of course we get enraged!Usually by silly comments made by silly males! My male work mates know to be very gentle(or rather they keep away from me) at such times coz I'm like a wild animal ,and whatever they say or do gets a loud growl! lol |

Yes, my PMS/PMT is really bad some months. Especially if i'm getting stressed over other things (like uni coursework or exams)
Some months i don't know how my bf puts up with me. |

Most women had been conditioned to believe that it is wrong to show anger but sometimes it is necessary to do so. Our ability to feel anger helps to protect us. There is a way to express this anger appropriately but women's anger is often not treated as seriously as men's anger.
It is nothing but a put down to women to suggest that their emotional expressions are a direct result of their hormones. A handy way to invalidate and disrespect someone whose feelings are unimportant to you. |

Absoloutley! When i am on my period i am like a total head case. i will bite everyones head off for no reason. its better to stay away from work on those days, especially if you deal with customers! |

Can I just say if women for a few days a months are so irrational why are they still allowed to drive, look after children, cook still do house work? In fact carry on with everything. I suggest that you need to stop listen to all the male dominated media who are manipulating opinions and find out some facts. No I am not having my time of the month either. Do you think that men could be unsuitable in the work place when they have hormonal changes? Or forget to shave? |

Some women might be unfit for work before their period when they are pre-mentrual, but it depends on the job they do. Women have more car accidents etc at this time. |

Totally depends on the lady! some of us are badly affected by PMT etc whereas others are not! Personally, I'm more weepy around period time, I get emotional, I take things to heart, and cry lots! I don't really get angry! But I do have friends that get really mad and their hormones rage! But unfortunately for you fellas, there's no way to tell one 'type' from the next ! :) xx |

Totally unsuitable but it happens the week before your period not during it 'pre menstrual tension'
I am unbearable during this time and the lads at work have learnt to accept my irrational outbursts because they know it's only two days out of twenty eight.
Strange thing is I know that I am being totally irritable and unreasonable but I can't stop it! |

Differs from lady to lady, periods may invovle a lot of pain and it is not nice, your hormons in a tornado and your boops burt, to some it might really be difficualt to be at work and for other, they might even forget that they have their period.... |

I dont believe is PMS.. its usually men that piss us off during that time of the month.

Q. What's the difference between a woman having PMT and a terrorist?
A. You can reason with a terrorist! :) |

I think girls need to make the effort to keep a hold of themselves at times like these!! It is possible - just about!! Like someone else said - you have to remember that other people haven't done anything wrong! |

i cant speak for the whole female side of the population, but me and a few fellow girls would be better off at home reflecting on loosing blood or being able to produce babies, or, nursing the tummy and back pains..but, quite frankly, us women are very good with getting on with it and tuning into mind over matter mode...u must be very bored (and pain free?) to get to think about our cycle..or did your lady dump you, whilst on it? you know, that might have been related to other things than hormones ;-) |

Serious answer for the lads................!
Why do men always insist in asking these sort of questions -
Lets rule out a couple of things here women who are on their periods are rarely enraged and maniac and i don't think that anyone woman would be anymore suitable / unsuitable for her job at that time of the month than at any other time.
My second point is that i would like to see any man deal with the things that women have to go through every month and still be expected to carry on with their lives as normal, may i just point out some of the side effects of this sign of fertility,
1) stomach cramps
2) bloating
3) incredible urges to stuff ones face with chocolate, even though we have been so good on our diet for the rest of the month
4) the constant whinging of men in our ears about the fact that they can't get any cause we are on our period, even though it is probably the last thing on our minds cause of the last three points.
In my very valued and probably biased opinion i do believe that every woman deserves a medal for going through this every month and still getting on with their lives. So get a live and stop annoying us ladies with these pathetic questions |

Honey I really don't think we lose it that badly when we are on our period I know we change a little but not to the level that we go postal. We do maintain some level of control. I don't but I assume everyone has different hormone levels so I guess it might be possible. Either way we now have medication to help us control our hormone levels |
