Should I be Anti-Marriage? Help plz!?

Why do you want marriage? Why not a special friend to go places with and have fun with? You can be just as intimate and close as married people, probably closer than most married people I know.

Having a ceremony and signing a piece of paper doesn't make a happy life, if it did, this answers forum wouldn't exist. All it does is add to the hell you go through when you break up.

If love is what you really want, don't give up on it. 16 years ago I was divorced from my cheating ex, making $8 an hr. and living with a roommate. Today I've been happily married to a wonderful man, we own our own company and life is good. My good fortune happened when I wasn't looking for it or trying to force it. My point is, sometimes the harder you look for something, the more elusive it becomes. Good luck!

Why be anti-marriage just because you've had a couple of bad experiences? 'True love' is not perfect. And all the good guys aren't taken, you just have to stop looking and love will come to you. I know all about bad men. About a year before I met my now-fiance, I was raped....still, I wasn't about to give up on men all together.

I have been married and divorced twice. I too do not put much credence in a Vow that is so easily broken. Monogamy has been at issue since mans arrival on earth.

Marriage is as much sweat equity as it is love. Like an old house, your always working on it to keep it in top order. Sadly more people would rather walk away than work on issues they have in their marriage. Courts have made it too easy for folks to leave when the roof leaks or the furnace goes out.

Erma Bombeck wrote a great book about 30 years or so ago about Suburbia. "The Grass is Always Greener Over Someone Else's Septic Tank" While humorous, it has all the trappings and comparisons to this day.

Never give up on true love or marriage i been married three times and i have always said i will marry as many times as it takes until i get it right. My first marriage i was 18 he was a 20 year old long hair hippie that lasted 18 months. Second time around i was 21 he was 18 that one lasted 19 months and they both cheated on me. Now comes my third marriage i was a little older 27 he was (hold onto your hats) two months short of being 21. Next month will be 30 years for him and i it's been hard at times and he too cheated on me once that i know of but instead of running away i stayed and give him another chance. I'm so glad i did stick around because he changed into a new man a better man. His affair happened 13 years ago he became the husband i know he could be. Never give up on mister right he is out there just waiting for you to turn the corner.
