Should I have told him I filed for child support?

Hey everyone,
I know I just asked a question about whether or not I should continue with the child support process which I decided to go ahead with. Thanks to some good friends advice and the advice of all of you. My question now is do you think its a bad idea that I told him I filed before he got served? For some reason inside me I am thinking that I should not have told him, or am I making this a bigger deal? This guy is very tricky and smart when it comes to the law and so i feel like he is going to gather up some crap on me to make me look bad. Which I know is like impossible because I have done nothing wrong and am very good to my baby, but of course I am running things through my head that I have done in the past and im like hmm was that wrong, should I have done this or that differently.... I don't know....what are your thoughts? By the way as of now the father and I have a written agreement and the lady from the dept of revenue told me to stop collecting payments from him as when the judge calculates what the father needs to pay it the payments will be backdated to when i first filed.

I was thiking that he would know anyways once I stop accepting the checks. But now im thiking about it and second guessing myself.

Your over analyzing. What difference does it make. He will get served and know then, but he knows already who cares.

When the matter is scheduled with the Court you can and should tell the Court what he has paid. I am not sure I would stop collecting payments though, he will just have an arrearage that will have to be paid from the date you stopped collecting it from him. You should definitely have the Court enter your agreement.

i probably wouldn't have told him but i don't think there is much he can do or change to influence your support. so relax, everything will be fine

if he's been paying let him keep paying you then tell the judge he don't owe you no back pay that way he won't start off in the system behind

He would know anyway, it just might buy him a little more time but I think the outcome will be the same.

stop guessing yourself! u did the right thing he should be paying for his child!! if he doses try to make u look bad it wont work he will look like the idiot for getting nasty ova having to pay money for his child. x

I've found throughout my lifetime it's best to go w/our FIRST intuition, & NOT to second guess ourselves. He IS going to find out soon enuf & I feel you should just stay far away from it. Just let the law handle it & believe me, they DO have a way of handling things correctly. Don't worry about things he may try to do, as the law also sees rite thru things of this nature. Of course they'll know full well he'll do whatever he can to try to get out of things, but in the end, they usually just end up going against people of that nature. Just sit tight, & things WILL work out for the very BEST for you & your child. Worrying w/get you no where, so try your best to KNOW it's in the very BEST hands, & that you have nothing to worry or get yourself all concerned over. Take things a day at a time, don't worry about tomorrow as it's not even here yet. Things have a way of working out, so just hold on to those tho'ts. All the best to you...:)

I think you did good to tell him. If you didn't he prolly would have ended up furious and thinsg could get out of control.

I wouldn't fret about what "dirt" he could dig up on you. He'll probably just do it out of spite but if you know in your heart you're not a bad person i wouldn't worry about it. You could aslo say that since the baby you have learned to see things in a new light and the person you were is not the person you are now.
