So why does he feel that you should be the one making all the concessions for something he's not sure about? He is acting childish and isn't showing a lot of love and support to have you go out and fill a little of your dream along the way. If he's this controling now what is your life going to be like down the road? It doesn't matter that you should have to wait at home while he's gone but he feels he can't wait for you to do something worth while, why?

Unless you're convinced these opportunities will disappear, it does seem like you would want to stay with your husband and spend as much time as you can because if he deploys who knows how long he'll be gone. Also, while he is deployed, it won't be an issue if you take off for a camp. Judging from how you are wording this, it seems like you need to figure out if you think your husband is being selfish in not letting you do this or if there are other issues going on. If you feel like you're putting your life on hold, that's not a good path to be going down this early into your marriage. Have a good think about what you really want for yourself in your life and discuss it with him, because if you two can't talk about things like that after promising to spend your lives together, you're in for some bumpier times.

Well I would say to stay with him....it is really sweet that he wants you to....some husbands don't even care....plan for next year sweetie, and make sure you tell him constantly about your plans to start working on yourself......

Don't you understand the magnitude of the fact that he is being deployed?! That single fact would have me at my husband's hip every possible moment. Think about this seriously, if he died, how would you feel? Mortified? Or mortified, but glad that now you can do your own thing? Stay with your husband, if you truly are ready.

Why did you get married? So you could make decisions as if you were single? When you are married you negotiate these things. If he was already deployed and you wouldn't be able to see him for the summer, that would be different. Also, your attitude - it isn't about putting your life on hold. This is life. This is what life is like. You are living your life now, exactly where you are. Nothing is on hold. You want to do whatever the heck you want to do, regardless of how he feels about it. You married someone in the military. He doesn't have the choice you want to make. He is fulfilling his obligations and he isn't whining about how it's putting his life on hold. "Gee, I'd rather go to Hawaii than go on active duty for my country. I just want to have fun and do my own thing." Can't you find a job near home? I can't believe you can only find a job in Hawaii or Australia. Maybe you should rethink being married if that's all you can think about. Someone else will be glad to have this nice guy who values his marriage.
