Should a parent have to consult with the other parent if they are going to move out town?

U are not being fair to the mother and I think u should of talked to her first before making the decision to move outta town... Regardless of the court ruling if u want to do this amicably u should of sat down with her and explained your reasoning for moving out of town...

I share visitation rights with both the boys biological dads and i tell them everything that concerns their children, even when i have full custody of the boys we make sure the fathers are kept up to date on everything, including out of town trips and what not...

Assuming SHE is paying "child support"(it does happen), the Court may reduce her payment, as it costs her more to see them. OR the Court may require YOU to pay for transportation costs for the children to visit HER. If the Judge sympathizes with her, the "choice" may be out of your hands.
Stop playing the "sore winner", it is only a matter of time until the kids realize you are being an @$$-hole to their Mom. They are NOT your toys, they are your children, and HERS too. This crap about,"I got the kids, so I'm king of the Divorce game", is B/S! Keep up this game-playing B/S and it WILL bite you in the butt! ALWAYS be more gracious, you will "look good", she will look needy of your grace. The kids will see you as a good guy, instead of a domineering @$$!

What does she mean by "harder" are we talking an hour Drive or less? if we are she has no real beef. If its much more than that then I side with her. Your kids need BOTH parents not just you. And if you make it hardfor them to see her they will hate you latter. By the the way telling someone who is about to lose time with their kids "that'not my problem" is very mean. I was on the receiving side of that line once and it hurt. What you are doing sounds spiteful to me. And my bet is you would be going nuts if the roles were reversed

You would need to get the permission of the family court to move, but would not need to consult you ex. If the family court has given you permission (and her a chance to rebut) than you are doing all that is needed. You offered her gas money, but it is up to her to keep her car in good repair, just as it's not her bosses job to pay for car repairs if it breaks down on the way to work.

For the sake of the kids I hope you will maintain a good relationship with your ex. I think it is great that you are offering her money for gas. That is more than a lot of men would do.

You are doing what you have to to give your kids the best they can have. Nobody can fault you on that. If she has a problem with that it is her problem and I wouldn't let it become mine. You don't have to have a consult, just let her know that it's going to happen. Don't get dragged into any further discussion about it. If she says anything just tell her that you're sorry she feels that way and walk away.

Like you said...it is in the best interest of the children and the court did back you on it,so just go and do what you have to.It is not your place any longer to have to please her in matters like this.And you are being very fair in paying for the gas for her to come and visit the kids.Maybe from time to time you can bring the kids to see her for a visit.
