Should a person get divorced...?

if they really dislike their spouse 90% of the time. Spouse is purposefully rude. Do the best they can to have minimal contact with him/her. Spouse is a source of anxiety/depression. But...have a nice house together and 2 lovely teen/preteen children. Both work and have good salaries.

if counseling doesn't work, and the marriage has gone irretrievably wrong, then as a last resort, yes.

as a christian, i am a strong believer in marriage, but sometimes it fails.

No, just work harder to get along. Something is bothering your spouse, I recommend trying to find out - maybe go to counseling.

Never stay together because you have a nice financial life or for the children.Kids aren't stupid and can see and feel what their parents are going through. If you are miserable then so are your kids. So, is it more important for your kids to grow up in a loving home or a financially stable home? If you love your kids then you already know the answer.

Counseling first...give it a couple of years. Try to rediscover each other, do something new together. Perhaps the spouse is depressed. Make sure that the spouse is seeing a doctor regularly and there have been no other signs of depression or health disorders.

If the marriage is abusive, get out now.

Otherwise, there was the whole "till death do us part bit." I think many people interpret it as "till I really get to know them and their flaws shine through."

WOWZA!
Yes. They should Divorce...

I'd say yes if you are disliking your spouse over 90% of the time, and having minimal contact with one another. You have to think of yourself and "staying together for the kids" is not exactly the best idea

If you don't like your spouse, and he/she treats you like something they stepped on in the street, and their a source of anxiety /depression, it really is time to leave. Kids pick up on this stuff, and they imitate what they see, and last of all live is to damn short.

Mr.Mysterious
My take on this,is that if they always felt that way bout each other then they shouldnt have gotten married. Living like that makes u a prisoner in ur own home, but both mates should do everthing they can 2 help their marriage first,if nothing seems to work, then a divorce may be the best thing to do. In conclusion,I will leave u with a short wise Rhyme. Never base a marriage foundation on material things, cause if there is no love, there shouldnt be any rings.

Yes

Alison
Yes, it's time to leave.

The spouse isn't only causing the other spouse depression, it also effects the kids.

yes, it's a reason to get divorced.

Think of the kids and think if you want this kind of life for them and what it could do to them as lovers and partners in the future.

They'll make better people if they live around happiness and love

Amber
I agree with the first person.
