Should ex wife make a speech calling self daughter in law after a 14 yr div. & ex is remarried?

I wrote a couple of weeks ago that my husbands ex and children acted horrible at the wake. His ex made it her personal reunion and his children took my mother in law and my picture off the board. It was hard enough to deal with her loss, let alone all their petty immature bull crap. Then at the funeral his exwife wrote a speech to be read at the funeral mass for my mother in law, ( from the daughter in law Carla) thats what the priest announced , I almost choked. I am the only daughter in law in the family and she is my husbands exwife. But my husband and I just bit our lips because their was no room to deal with her on this particular day. We left his mothers funeral luncheon because she continued to make it her family reunion with his relatives. He was very upset as was I . Are we wrong to feel we needed our own space to grieve with out her there. We were their for the kids. I don't know if I am being petty or if it was definitely wrong and selfish of her. I am not jealous of her in the least bit. I would have welcomed her to come to the wake and funeral as long as she acted appropriately. She must reccognize that she is not a daughter in law anymore . She may always remain friends with family members after all their are children involved. No reason they should not remain friends but out of respect for my husband and I , we should come first at family functions and he should not have had to deal with her at the same time as trying to hang on to his emotions of losing his mother.

Your husband's ex has NO business showing up at your husband's mom's funeral. She is not a grieving daughter in law, she is an ex.

I know of a nutcase brother who invited his brother's ex to their mom's funeral even though the brother was remarried. The ex showed up and both the brother and the brother's new wife were really upset.

I honestly think the best thing to do is to have a private funeral and hire security if needed to keep out uninvited guests like the ex. I'm sure funeral homes know how to arrange this. I'm sorry you and your husband were put through such a mess.
