I wouldn't sign the consent, but if your daughter really loves him, it is important she follows her heart and u sign the consent.

this is a tricky one if you say no she may resent you and marry him any way when shes old enough if you say yes then it might all end in tears in time then you have to pick up the pieces personally i think i would talk to her and try to make sure it is really what she wants and then give my consent and just make sure she knows you will always be there for her and then if it dose end in tears at least she will come to you for help and support

I wouldn't. Although such a large age difference was common long ago (mostly for procreation purposes), it no longer is looked upon favorably by society. This situation veritably screams "pedophile"! Ask yourself this -- in this day & age what can a mature man possibly have in common with a female so young? Obviously they've done more than maintain a platonic relationship, but I couldn't/wouldn't in good conscience condone their union with my consent. If they love each other so much, let them wait until she's of age to marry. Hopefully they'll break up or won't elope. Good luck.

Age gap is way way way too far apart. Not to mention 14yr olds have alot more to take care of than marrage, they are barely experienced in life. Have her try again when she is 24 and has lived a litte, experienced things, and is overall a more life-experienced person. I would also have to question the nature of a 38yr old doing this to a 14yr old. Most likely a child molester or atleast one in the works. 38yr olds should be looking for someone 30-45yrs old.
