My hubby is 40 and has an teen kid from a previous marriage and always said he was done with kids. I'm 26 and very happy to be child free. He's suddenly been talking about kids a lot lately, but when I confronted him if he was having 2nd thoughts about having more kids he would blow it off like "one day YOU might want one..that's what I meant". Due to insurance there was a gap in my BC while my doctor worked it out. He decided I guess this was his only time to strike and started sneaking off his condoms..UGH! I was so PISSED!! Now I'm even more pissed when I spend my afternoons throwing up in the bathroom at work...and he's floating on cloud 9 b/c he got me knocked up. Seriously..I've never seen him so happy...from his attitude I take it he is feeling more "manly" and that he's still "got it"???

Maybe he just really loves you and wants to have a family with you. Maybe the teenager was a mistake at the time and now he wants a baby with the girl he really loves; a chance to be a father.
My husband had children from previous relationships too. He told me he never wanted another child and at the time, I was totally fine with the idea. But after a year or so and seeing him with his young son, I started wanting a baby with him, a child that was ours and that I didn't have to share with psycho ex-gf. He was upset at first because he said,"I told you from the beginning I didn't want more children. If this is really going to be an issue, then maybe we should break up now." I told him no, it wasn't going to be an issue, it was just emotions. Well, one day out of the blue we were getting "busy" and he said, "I want us to have a baby. I love my other children, but they were all conceived out of lust, not love. I want a baby that is conceived from love, with you." I was so overwhelmed with joy and happiness. We now have two boys and have been married for 11 years. So maybe this is the case with your husband and he just didn't know how to go about telling you. Sorry for the long answer, just thought I would share my story and help you see that it may be more emotional than just a "manly" feeling he's having. |
