Vasectomy question...?

Is it true that more men, even young men, having vasectomies is on the rise?
I heard in an article that it is. If so, I personally think it's good. I might get one next year.
Which one is more effective? The no-scalpel or the traditional one?
(I know this isn't a marriage question, so bug off)

laser is always better. Yes more men are having this done. Good luck. make sure you don't want kids before you do it though because it is expensive and to have it reversed is even more expensive |

I would suggest check out some online forums about vasectomy, the doctors not always discuss things/issues with you. One of the possible side effect is living in pain for the rest of your life. Two years a go I was planning on it, even had an appointment setup, but after doing a lot of research did not think it was worth risking the pain... So my advice again is do your research before making a decision. Good luck. |

Wearing condoms is just not the same, while the pill can have side-effects for the female. Therefore, men of all ages are having this procedure done now more than ever. It is an easy, lesser expensive, reliable form of birth control with no side effects. Either form is equally effective, but lesser invasive procedure has become more popular. I had it done. In rare cases things can go wrong, but normally, as in my case, the first week or two was a bit uncomfortable, but after about a month or so, it's as if it never happened. For someone who is certain that they want no children, I believe that it is a good option. |

Seriously?

My husband went no scalpel (laser) and was uncomfortable for 2 days total. It's the best thing he's ever done for us...well, it's in the top ten at least! |

My boyfriend had the no scalpel method. They still actually cut you, but I think they cut you and perform the procedure all at once or something like that. It was very simple, minor in pain (he says) We went out to lunch afterward and he was supposed to rest the remainder of the day, but we ended up cleaning out my pool. So I guess that indicates it wasn't really a big deal. |

Yes it's true that the number has gone up. Just be sure that you're ready for one. The reversal rate is about 75% but that number drops significantly with time. If you're one of the men who never want kids, then it's definitely the best decision.
I hear the no-scalpel is the way to go these days. |
