It's not like she said that gay people should all rot in hell or anything remotely like that. If she did, she would deserve the boot!
All she said was that she believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman.
Jeez, we used to have freedom of speech in this country...

She gave her opinion and not what the judge wanted to hear! Don't we have free speech in our country? Agreed, she stumbled a little with the answer, but I am sure she didn't expect such a controversial question! They should have asked her " How would you bring about world peace if you were our first female president"? LOL!
Oh yes! and my personal opinion.... to each his own! |

I think that she can believe what she wants.
I think it was HORRIBLY inappropriate to ask her that question in the Miss USA forum. It is a hot button topic and whoever was asked that question would have been screwed in that competition. She was asked that question to further someone elses agenda, not for any other reason. |

No she was not wrong. Why should you be "politically correct" if you believe its wrong. I don't agree with gay marraige and would never say its ok just to be politically correct.
IMO there were a lot of other questions that could have been picked. It was not fair to single one out for a question you know very well people either are for or against it. |

In no way was she wrong. She spoke of how she really felt towards this. No one should blame someone of how they feel towards anything. |

Personally I think she got a bad deal with the question she was asked and NC getting such an easy question. California could not have said anything that wouldn't have been controversial. Poor insight on the part of the pageant. |

I am a very strong supporter of gay marriage, and I thought that was an unfair question. Considering that over half the country still opposes gay marriage, somebody who was for gay marriage could just as easily have lost points on a question like that. |

why was she wrong? I think not, we live in a free country and we have freedom of speech. She had a choice she could say what people wanted her to say, or she could tell her true feelings. Well she chose to say how she truly felt ok maybe she went over board, but it was her right to do so. We can't change what others do, but we should not be criticized for having our own opinions even if others don't like it. Such is life, I oppose Gay Marriage and my brother is gay. Do I love him of course, I do. It is not about that. It is about how I feel about it morally. |

No, she simply told of her beliefs. She did not oppose it, she had a different view point on it.
Remember, America has FREE SPEECH. He should not have asked that question and set her up. She worked to get were she was at adn asking a loaded political question was flat out #ssinine of him. |

No she was not but sometimes being right is not always best as she has now learned. She should have stayed in the middle with her answer. Like not my thing but fine it that is other people's thing. If Perez Hilton had asked her is she hated him would she have said yes?<> |

there isnt a professional way to answer it without giving ur opinion...that was a opinion promting question...its either, yes i agree, or no i dont...those are called o-pin-ions..and no contestant ever says just "yes" or "no"..you have to give your reasoning...
and it shouldnt be contraversial.....WHY?? we all know the majority of california's voters feel this way.. thats why prop 8 passed!!
gays want tolerance? well they just might have to tolerate those who dont agree with them right?
love gays..
just have a different idea about what marriage is.. |

why would perez ask such a question?
its a pageant not a presidential debate. what business is it of his if she wants gay marriage or not? |

Not at all. It's called freedom of speech, people have a right to be entitled to their own opinions. |

Look if you don't want her answer with the truth don't ask her the question. When they prepared that question they should have been prepared for all kinds of answers not just the ones they wanted. I think Perez Hilton was EXTREMELY out of line when he said some of those things and needs to apologize. She is entitled to her own beliefs and if that is the belief she chooses (I also share this belief with her) then people need to accept that. It is a controversial question that shouldn't be asked on occasions such as this. If you want to talk gay marriage do it on your own time and stop criticizing her for a perfectly fine answer that was meant not to be offensive. I do not mean to be mean to you but I just do not agree with you or Perez. And when you said "She should have known that if she would answer the question and said no to gay marriage it would have brought up a controversy" Well I think that kind of a 2 way question. If she would've said I strongly believe in gay marriage, people would be saying they think it's wrong to believe that. |

He asked her a question that was designed to test how she uses her brains to think on her feet in an awkward moment. She answered with her heart and feelings, which if you think about it, was the stupidest thing she could've done. Not that there's anything wrong with answering any question with your heart and feelings. Basically, she knew initially she gave a dumb answer and tried to cover it up by continuing her answer in a short rant/statement about her beliefs about marriage being between a man and a woman. He simply asked her if she thought the gay marriage movement would continue in other states. He didn't ask her opinion on gay marriage itself or her views for or against. Mr. Perez is correct—she is a dumb b*tch. |

While everyone has a right to an opinion, that doesn't make their opinion right.
Opposing gay marriage is a close-minded, and bigoted position. |
